Cause Marketing Forum released information that the majority of charity checkout campaigns in 2014 raised as much as $388 million dollars of US cash in toll. This amount was actually just slightly less than what was raised the year prior in 2013 (as measured by reviewing the largest most prominent charity checkout campaigns in 2014/2013).

According to the Cause Marketing Forums website, “In the United States, it is common to be asked to donate spare change or give a dollar to a good cause when shopping or dining out, but until now no data has existed on the scope of such corporate-backed charity checkout campaigns. These efforts produce hundreds of millions of dollars for charity each year while generating goodwill and other benefits for companies.  More than $358 million was raised in 2012 by an elite group of 63, million-dollar-plus charity checkout campaigns identified by Cause Marketing Forum.  In aggregate, these large point of sale donation programs have raised over $2.3 billion in the last 29 years.”
