According to Philanthropy News Digest the Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation announced a $5 million matching grant to the Semper Fi Fund “in support of wounded, critically ill, and injured veterans.”

“With support from GoDaddy — which was founded by Bob Parsons, a former U.S. Marine who served in Vietnam — the foundation will match all donations to the Semper Fi Fund andAmerica’s Fund, a self-funded program of Semper Fi, through December 31, 2014. The 10 for 10 Challenge marks the tenth anniversary of the funds, which have provided immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to nearly thirteen thousand service veterans. In their third year of supporting a matching campaign for Semper Fi, the Parsons Foundation and GoDaddy aim to raise a total of $10 million, up from $5 million last year.”

“The most important things I have ever learned I learned from the Marine Corps,” said Parsons, who joined  the Giving Pledge campaign in 2013. “I learned there is very little we can accomplish alone. Through the 10 for 10 Challenge we have the opportunity to rally the community, raise awareness, and provide much needed and deserved support to our wounded, injured, and critically ill service members who have sacrificed so much to protect the freedoms we enjoy.”
