A nonprofit organization and voter group has a new plan to get a better turnout for a key election to the Los Angeles Board of Education.

Its solution is to an always horrible turnout is that it is going to pay one lucky voter $25,000. Whoever votes in the District 5 election held on May 19th will be entered in the drawing to win the cash.

This was created by the Southwest Voter Registration Education Project as an experimental, nontraditional out-of-the-box strategy to increase voter turnout, especially within the Latino community.

Voter turnout was just under 12% in the area in the past, they hope to drastically improve this.  Most certainly, if it works, it will be heavily debated in the future on if its use is fair, and or should continue to be allowed.
