The Opportunity  

The Vice President of Finance position is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, mission-focused finance executive. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer and serving as an integral member of the senior leadership team, the Vice President of Finance is a strategic partner, a critical thinker, and a proven thought leader who will help CFBNJ continue to reach new levels of impact and vision.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for overall strategic financial leadership, goals, objectives, and controls.
  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, finance functions, reporting systems and processes in compliance with GAAP, legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Advise the CEO, CAO and other key members of senior leadership on financial planning, strategies, and risks and opportunities.
  • Act as the liaison to the Finance, Investment, and Audit committees of the Board; effectively communicate and present financial information and analysis of business drivers at Board committee meetings.
  • Lead core planning and forecasting processes, including multi-year planning, annual budgeting, monthly and quarterly forecasts of revenue and expenses to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Evaluate and refine current internal management reporting capabilities. Evaluate and strengthen, where necessary, system of policies, internal controls, standards, and procedures. Establish practices and implement systems to support high performance and accountability.
  • Optimize use of IT technology and systems to create efficiencies, timeliness of reports and accuracy in reporting.
  • Leads all aspects of the audit.
  • Build, lead and develop a high-performing, diverse Finance team.

 

Essential skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. MBA or graduate degree with a concentration in finance desirable.
  • CPA required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong command of financial management and business operations within a non-profit highly preferred. Experience/knowledge should include nonprofit accounting, including complex fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with Board members and managing board relations.
  • Proven successful track record of building, developing and inspiring high-performing teams.
  • Finance technology and systems fluency; proven ability to assess and maximize financial management software for optimal efficiency.
  • High reliability and integrity.
  • Ability to handle sensitive data in a confidential manner; uses high discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office suite skills
