Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Development Officer assists the East-West Director of Development in advancing the mission of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur by being a key member of the Development Department who manages a portfolio of individual donors and prospects. This is a dynamic position that includes front-line relationship building and working in a team-oriented environment. The Development Officer spends a majority of time in direct interaction with donors to solicit and close increased annual gifts and special transformational gifts; helping donors fulfill their passions and interests through their giving to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collaborate with the East West Director of Development to develop and manage a prospect pool of donors
• Cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of 85-150 donors and prospective donors for major gifts utilizing moves management philosophy, conducting a set number of visits per month
• Identify new prospects, qualify and develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for each
• Serve as the primary frontline fundraiser understanding the mission of the SNDdeN
• Maintain up-to-date information on donors and prospects
• Write proposals and guide the development of other written materials used for donor solicitation
• Conduct discovery calls to those individuals who have a relationship with SNDdeN and the capacity to make a gift, with the purpose of engaging them and educating them about their impact of philanthropy
• Understand the funding opportunities and inform potential prospects of ways they can “partner” with the Sisters
• Coordinate with Development team to keep donors up to date on their gifts and impact
• Track and record all donor actions, interactions, goals, metrics and KPI’s, using development software system
• Complete face-to-face meetings with prospective and current prospects to educate, engage and cultivate them to consider giving or giving at increased levels
• Engage key volunteers and effectively utilize events and other activities to move solicitations forward
• Qualify prospects for potential major gift capacity and interest
• Exercise good judgment and the highest professional standards in donor relations and interactions
• Maintain composure and professional demeanor in the workplace
• Assist in other tasks as appropriate, and work as a team member in achieving Development goals
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Ability to represent and communicate the vision and mission of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, and a desire to make a significant difference for them
• Minimum of five years successful experience in fundraising
• A familiarity with fundraising software
• Bachelor’s degree
• Ability to interact easily and effectively with a variety of people
• Confidentiality, Good judgment and maturity
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
• Organizational skills
• Must be willing to travel locally to meet with donors
