Location: San Diego County, with occasional travel to Murrieta and Temecula
Position: Full time
Pay: $27.00 per hour

About the Position

My Brother’s Keeper Transitional Housing is seeking an organized, dependable Housing Specialist to help maintain safe, welcoming, and move-in-ready apartments for young adults transitioning from foster care to independent living.

This position supports approximately 33 housing units, primarily in San Diego County, with occasional travel to Murrieta and Temecula. The Housing Specialist works closely with program leadership, case managers, property managers, and maintenance vendors to keep housing operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities

- Conduct scheduled monthly unit inspections and document housing conditions, repair needs, and follow-up actions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with property managers and vendors. Maintain an up-to-date vendor directory and identify and recruit new vendors as needed to ensure reliable service for each housing-related need.
- Coordinate maintenance requests with property managers and vendors, document and track repairs in MBK maintenance logs, and follow up to ensure timely completion and work is completed to MBK standards.
- Prepare and furnish apartments for new participants, including purchasing and delivering household supplies, coordinating cleaning, coordinating furniture delivery, maintenance repairs, carpet cleaning, and locksmith services, junk removal services and ensuring utilities are set up.
-Maintain accurate, up-to-date utility records for all units. Calculate each participant’s share of monthly electricity and solar charges, maintain accurate billing records, and email invoices to participants on time each month.
- Coordinate housing logistics for move-ins ,move-out, transfers and discharge.
- Complete move-out inspections and document damage, cleaning needs, and inventory through photographs and written records. Coordinate all necessary repairs, cleaning, and replacements to return the unit to move-in-ready condition.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of keys, furnishings, furniture, supplies, inspections, and maintenance requests.
-Maintain accurate, up-to-date housing records and logs, including but not limited to the unit organizational chart, furniture inventory, property manager contact information, MBK garage storage inventory, Unit keys and other housing-related records.
- Track vacancies, unit readiness, and turnover progress and provide regular updates to leadership.
- Build professional relationships with landlords, property managers, and service providers.
- Assist with locating suitable apartments and coordinating housing arrangements as needed.
- Work closely with case managers and program director to address housing concerns and identify areas where participants need support in caring for and maintaining their apartments.
- Prepare units and maintain accurate housing records to ensure they are audit ready.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in a related field preferred.
- Experience in housing services, property management, maintenance coordination, residential programs, or a related field preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple locations and competing priorities.
- Clear communication, sound judgment, and dependable follow-through.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and use email, spreadsheets, and electronic documentation systems.
- Ability to work respectfully with young adults from diverse backgrounds and maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and reliable transportation for travel between locations.
- Ability to meet applicable employment background screening and clearance requirements.

Schedule and Travel

This is a full-time position with work performed in office, apartment, and community settings. Regular travel within San Diego County and occasional travel to Murrieta and Temecula are required. Occasional schedule adjustments may be necessary for move-ins, move-outs, or urgent housing needs.
