REPORTS TO: CEO

FOUNDATION BACKGROUND

The Foundation:

For A Bright Future Foundation (“FABF”) is a US-based 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization created to support the needs of underrepresented and underprivileged children through health, education, youth leadership and the power of storytelling.  Our primary vehicle is our scholarship program for underprivileged and underrepresented children in a variety of fields. We have funded children’s hospitals, media centers, internships, leadership opportunities through our ambassador programs, and sports leadership development organizations. We also support several local community charities and cultural enhancement organizations. We have near term goals to implement media labs and fintech labs in schools across the country, leveraging relationships among and between local communities, businesses, schools and donors to execute our vision.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a driven and proven fundraiser at the $2 million or higher level who will serve as a key member of the FABF leadership team and an active participant in making strategic growth decisions affecting FABF. The successful candidate will have a robust network of contacts and will help forge new relationships to build FABF's visibility, impact, and financial resources.

The FABF Development Director will interface closely with other leadership team members and with the FABF Friends of the Board Advisory team and support board members as they take on a more active fundraising role. This position will have a base salary plus will join in the success of the foundation as we hit our performance milestones.

ABOUT YOU: You are passionate about FABF’s mission and its impact on the community it serves.  You are committed to serving the underrepresented and underserved and have proven work experience with growth-oriented, charitable organizations in managing development, events, outreach, and donor stewardship.  You have an innate sense of urgency with an understanding of the hard, sustained work required to achieve big outcomes.  Additionally, you have worked closely with executive boards and/or committees in the formation and execution of high-level messaging and fundraising initiatives with a track record of successfully raising annual funds in the seven digits.  You are a self-starter and can work independently and with a team.  You are action oriented and can combine a strategic outlook with a performance oriented work style.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In partnership with the CEO, develop and implement all long and short-term development strategies to diversify, grow and steward FABF’s funding base in support of the mission; in alignment with FABF’s strategic plan.
  • While driving local success, you will be central in developing a national platform and working closely with our operations and marketing teams to execute our vision and communicate our story.
  • Establish and successfully meet or exceed annual plans and long-term fundraising goals through a portfolio of high impact corporate, foundation, individual, and public partners.
  • Utilize a range of techniques to build funding relationships including stewardship calls, visits, events, site visits, use of volunteers and regular communications to identify and cultivate potential donors.
  • Assess, implement and utilize fundraising and donor management software as necessary
  • Manage the maintenance of accurate and updated records of all contacts and contributions projection pipeline of opportunities.
  • Oversee execution of the strategic plan including development and execution of aa multi-channel strategy; supervise the development of key fundraising materials and participate in content creation for donor letters, press releases, website content.
  • Engage with existing and new media partners to build strategic partnerships and manage media relations.
  • Bolster systems and structures to measure and report fundraising success regularly (monthly, quarterly, and annually), inclusive of preparing and delivering reports of fundraising activity to the executive leadership team and FABF Board of Directors.
  • Collaborate with CEO to create and assist in the management of dashboards to track Key Performance Indicators.
  • Collaborate with CEO, on a regular basis to ensure fundraising and development budgets, gift and pledge information, and development contract requirements are timely communicated, discussed, and reviewed.
  • Act as liaison to the Board to include, supporting committee members with information and materials they need to achieve goals.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in development/fundraising functions for medium size charitable organizations.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA a plus.
  • Membership in professional fundraising association(s): Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) a plus.
  • Must have a proven track record and deep understanding of all aspects of a complex, successful development program including direct mail, annual giving, major gifts, endowments, planned giving, engagement of volunteers, and execution of successful special events.
  • Have senior-level fundraising experience with a track record of success including proactively building relationships.
  • Experience with digital marketing forms such as social media, video software.
  • Knowledge of funding sources and the philanthropic culture of South Florida and similar major U.S. Cities.
  • Extremely strong communication skills, both written and verbal, listening skills and dynamic public speaking and presentation skills.

 

Location: Based in South Florida.
