Canvasser: Making change happen, one conversation at a time.

Are you good with people? As a canvasser, you'll go out into communities, knock on doors, and talk to people about the issues. You'll raise awareness, build membership, and raise money for the organizations we work with. Canvassing is the heart of so many of the campaigns we work on, and canvassing positions are available in the Austin area!

In Austin, we are currently partnering with Environment Texas, a citizen-based environmental advocacy organization that operates at both the state and national levels.

Austin has a water pollution problem. Almost half of Austin's waterways have unsafe levels of fecal bacteria, and the toxic algae is so bad that it has sickened and even killed dogs. This is what happens when more and more of our city gets paved over, pollution runs off into would waters, threatening wildlife, fun summer activities, and our drinking water.

Fortunately, this is a problem we can fix: Austin needs to go back to nature. By including nature-based infrastructure such as rain gardens and green roofs in new developments, we can prevent pollution from getting into our waterways. These techniques allow rainwater to soak into the ground, slowing it down and filtering out toxic pollution. So, Environment Texas is calling on the city council to require new development to be green on commercial properties.
