Administrative Officer

Part-time with Health Benefits

Salary based on experience

Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council (PGAHC) is looking to hire a highly organized Administrative Officer to join our team.  As the Administrative Officer you will manage the organization’s human resources including performance management, employee relations and employee benefits.  A successful Administrative Officer will establish new policy initiatives and assist the Board of Directors with orientation and communication.  The Administrative Office will work closely with the Executive Direct to accomplish PGAHC’s mission by achieving accreditation from the Standards for Excellence and leading the development of the strategic plan.  Additional duties include being a liaison to PGAHC’s funders and board engagement.  The Administrative Officer is an Exempt status position and reports to the Executive Director.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Manage all aspects of PGAHC human resources
  • Lead the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan and Standards for Excellence accreditation process
  • Develop the organization’s annual report
  • Design and update policies, employee manual and succession plan
  • Manage the organization’s locations, memorandum of understandings, and service contracts
  • Supervise administrative programs, which involve staff development and employee orientation
  • Prepare reports and presentations with statistical data, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Proven work experience as an Administrative Officer, Administrator or similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree plus four years’ professional experience in organization management at a public or private agency or organization
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize daily workloads
  • Experience with office management software like MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word, specifically)
  • Strong organization skills with a problem-solving attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail

Supervisory Controls

Works under the general supervision of the Executive Director, who defines overall objectives to be achieved.  Work is reviewed for conformance to established policies and procedures, feasibility, compatibility with goals, guidelines and effectiveness in achieving intended objectives.

Work Condition

Work is typically performed in an office setting.  Administrative Officer will be required to visit other locations and program sites.
