Program Coordinator
Part-time with Health Benefits
Salary based on experience
The Program Coordinator will act as the administrator for Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council (PGAHC) programs and events. The individual will support the organization’s strategic direction while creating and managing long-term goals. Working in collaboration with the senior leadership team the Program Coordinator will facilitate, initiate, and implement cultural arts projects, programs, and initiatives that are aligned with PGAHC’s mission and strategic goals. The Program Coordinator will provide information and technical assistance as needed to artists, arts organizations, and the general public. A strong passion for the arts and community as well as experience and knowledge of program development from concept to implementation are all necessary to achieve success within this position. The Program Manager is an Exempt status position and reports to the Deputy Director.
Areas of Responsibility
- Develops and directs all aspects of art programs including virtual programs
- Create and manage monthly calendar and schedule of all programs
- Build relationships with artist and support arts programs
- Work with partners to bring programs to the community
- Develop Arts and Social Practice Partnership Programs
- Research various artists and conduct artist selection and review process
- Manage site/facility selection for programs and coordinate various activities with private contractors and public agencies when appropriate
- Provide technical support to artists and art and community organizations
- Represents PGAHC in a professional capacity at the local, regional, state and national level
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or four years’ professional experience in arts administration or event/production management, at a public or private arts agency or organization
- Experience in fundraising, sponsor development and grant writing and management
- General knowledge of art disciplines, trends and their methods of operation
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, be an effective leader, employ quick decision-making processes and be a team player with a high level of enthusiasm and positivity
- Knowledge of technical production of multi-scale and community based public events/exhibitions, including community outreach and exhibit installation
- Exercise of discretion and independent judgment is required to perform assigned duties
Supervisory Controls
Works under the general supervision of the Deputy Director, who defines overall objectives to be achieved. Work is reviewed for conformance to established policies and procedures, feasibility, compatibility with goals, guidelines and effectiveness in achieving intended objectives.
Work Condition
Work is typically performed in an office setting. Program Coordinator will be required to visit other locations and program sites.
