QUALIFICATIONS

We seek a vice president for our social service practice area.  Our ideal candidate has at least 10 years of issue-based PR experience, a track record of developing and executing multichannel strategic communications plans, extensive media relationships, crisis experience, and a deep understanding of the interaction among government, donors, funders, and nonprofits.

The social service sector faces an unprecedented demand for services, increasingly responding to multiple issues, including increased poverty, a housing crisis, increased mental health and substance use challenges among children and adults, and more. PR and broader communications play a critical role in amplifying nonprofits’ roles, increasing recognition of their work, and advancing their missions and ability to meet the moment.

We are looking for someone who can deliver fresh, innovative ideas that will help our clients stand out and grow recognition within a shifting media landscape. The successful candidate is an organized, creative, high-energy, enthusiastic, self-starter with excellent oral and written communications skills.  A track record generating media coverage (stories, interviews, op-eds, etc.), developing communications collateral, a strong interest in social issues and public policy, and a commitment to our  DEI values is a must.

Pluses: Management experience, donor communications knowledge, Spanish language proficiency, government experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership: Lead the social services practice area, ensuring all accounts receive exceptional service and results and that the firm continues to build expertise in the area.

Client Service: Maintain the highest levels of customer service across all accounts in the practice area; develop, implement, and oversee strategies to build clients’ reputation, reach, and impact. Provide strategic guidance on messaging and communications tactics and tools.

Executive Presence: Represent Anat Gerstein, Inc. publicly; be the face of the company. Build relationships with leaders in the public and nonprofit social services sector.

Business Development: Grow the practice area by attracting new clients and ensuring the retention of the current client base.

Management: Coach and supervise staff and accounts and ensure the production of high-quality deliverables, accountability, and professional growth; manage budgets across accounts and track staff hours; lead thinking on future resource needs and strategies across the practice area.

SALARY

$125K to $140K, commensurate with experience, plus commission.
