Summary

The Senior Manager, Finance and Operations works closely across the Tent Partnership for Refugees’ Departments to provide critical support in Tent’s day-to-day operations across Accounting & Finance, Human Resources, and General Operations Management.

The Senior Manager, Finance and Operations is a team player who is reliable, engaged, and flexible; someone who can juggle multiple tasks day-to-day, takes initiative and ownership over tasks, and embraces collaboration. This position requires excellent time management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. This role will report directly to the Executive Director.

Core Responsibilities:

Finance

  • Oversee all accounts, financials, ledgers, and accounting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP and regulatory requirements specific to nonprofit organizations.
  • Manage the cash flow of the organization and maintain/enhance Tent’s various financial systems and applications.
  • Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements in conjunction with third party service providers.
  • Coordinate and manage the entire audit process with the Foundation’s auditors.
  • Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax and state reporting compliance, both at the Federal, state and municipality levels.
  • Manage Tent’s annual budget planning process and monthly forecasting reports; Monitor variances and update projections on a rolling basis.
  • Manage and improve systems for all of the organization’s financial transactions (including payroll, vendor payments, corporate card transactions, expense reimbursements, etc.)
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards to ensure the accuracy of financial information. Continuously monitor internal controls and take proactive actions to improve the control environment.

Human Resources

  • Oversee the Foundation’s PEO and global HR partners
  • Manage the Foundation’s global HR infrastructure
  • Lead the review of key HR processes/policies and make proposals for improvement and compliance
  • Oversee and manage U.S. and global payroll processing, benefits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and support staff performance reviews, hiring, onboarding, and off-boarding activities

General Operations

  • Manage the grant-making cycle and ensure adherence to Expenditure Responsibility
  • Prepare materials for executive board meetings and attend/present as Board Secretary
  • Serve as Liaison between Tent and Chobani Office/IT departments
  • Oversee organization-wide softwares and applications
  • Manage pro bono legal relationships

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance along with 5-8 years of progressive Accounting or Finance experience
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP required
  • Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Previous experience managing financial operations for small organizations required
  • Experience managing global HR and/or supporting a human resource team, ideally in a startup environment, a plus
  • Proficiency with Xero or similar accounting tools required
  • Experience with SAP Concur, Expensify or similar payment systems preferred
  • Previous experience reviewing and filing tax forms such as 990-PF, 1099, W8, and 1042-s preferred
  • Extremely organized and fanatical attention to detail
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, and efficiently.
  • Ability to manage multiple, shifting priorities and work against tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Excel)
