Senior Grant Writer Job Description

Write On Fundraising brings equity and compassion to philanthropy by facilitating access and amplifying voices to increase capacity, influence communities, and invest in people and organizations. We accomplish this by serving as a bridge between traditional fundraising practices and new upstream methodologies. Simply put, we provide fresh fundraising solutions for high-impact nonprofits through grant writing, individual giving, training and education, and capital campaign services. 

Our innovative team collaborates remotely across the U.S. and is headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Due to continued growth and expansion, Write On Fundraising is currently searching for an experienced (3+ years of grant writing) and naturally curious individual to join our remote team as a full-time senior grant writer. The senior grant writer role is both remote and flexible in schedule but is expected to attend regular staff meetings via Zoom. 

The position has a standard work week of 40 hours and receives a laptop and a technology stipend. The starting hourly pay for this position is $21.63 to $24.04 (equivalent to a salary of $45,000-$50,000) based on experience. Health, vision, 401(k), technology stipend, and dental benefits are available as well as generous PTO and holidays. Senior grant writers report to a relationship manager. 

Qualified applicants will demonstrate:

Qualifications: 

  • Experienced (3+ years of full-time grant writing) 
  • History of winning private, corporate, and government grants
  • Ability to quickly master new processes, software programs, and technology
  • Motivation and autonomy to serve on a remote team of diverse fundraising professionals
  • Exceptional organization and project management skills
  • Within the last five years, served as the primary, lead writer in securing at least three government grants and 20 private foundation grant awards
  • Remote team experience is preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide outstanding customer care to nonprofit organizations
  • Research and qualify new prospects
  • Engage in grant discovery and cultivation processes
  • Draft and refine high-impact proposals
  • Create superior stewardship and reporting products
  • Prepare budget drafts for foundation and corporate grants
  • Attend and support client meetings, preparing agendas and other packets of information ahead of time
  • Serve as a lead writer for clients

Grant Team Support:

  • Provide outstanding proofreading and editing support using AP Style and client brand standards to the grant team for approximately 15-20 grant applications per month
  • Submit final grant applications and all necessary attachments through the designated portal by or ahead of deadline
  • Provide other grant team support as requested, to include research, donor communication, prospect qualification, grant writing and other administrative tasks

 

Key performance indicators include:

  • Calendaring and time management
  • Project management and task completion
  • Client hours billed

Job Type: Full-Time, Non-exempt

Pay: $21.63 to $24.04 per hour (Equivalent Salary $45K to 50K)

Previous experience working as part of a remote team is preferred.
