Status: Full Time, Salaried, Exempt

Salary: $70,000 - $110,000

Nashville P.R.O.P.E.L, (Parents Requiring Our Public Education system to Lead) was created in October 2018 by a group of Nashville parents and grandparents. We are an organization dedicated to empowering parents and revitalizing education in Nashville. We organize and develop powerful parent leaders to ignite a movement that demands equitable education policies and practices in Nashville public education. Through a parent advocacy fellowship, deep relationship building, neighborhood canvassing, knowledge and power building parent events, and community meetings Nashville P.R.O.P.E.L. strives to educate and equip parents with the knowledge and tools to demand radical systemic change..

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Program Director to join our team. As the Program Director, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing parent-friendly programming to foster a strong local movement for quality education in Nashville. In addition, you will oversee the Nashville P.R.O.P.E.L. Propeller Program, provide support for the Nashville P.R.O.P.E.L. Speakers Series, coordinate the Parent Summit, and assist with communications efforts, including social media management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In tandem with the CEO, design and oversee the Nashville P.R.O.P.E.L. Propeller Program, ensuring its success and impact.
  • Collaborate with other organizational leaders to develop and facilitate programming for the Parent Advocacy Fellowship (PAF).
  • Develop systems and identify metrics to measure successful implementation and effectiveness of programming.
  • Collaborate with the team and Fellowship participants to gather feedback and identify programming needs and additional training opportunities.
  • Develop comprehensive programming to enhance the leadership skills of parent leaders, including areas such as public speaking, policy, and advocacy.
  • In coordination with the team, develop programming and structure for the Nashville P.R.O.P.E.L. Speakers Series to facilitate meaningful discussions and knowledge sharing.
  • Design, manage, and implement a volunteer process to successfully execute events.
  • In collaboration with the CEO, organize and lead the annual Parent Summit to bring together parents and stakeholders for collective action.
  • Develop systems, routines, and processes that will improve efficiency and user experience for employees, volunteers, and constituents.
  • Manage communications efforts, including writing op-eds and letters to the editor, securing media mentions, and managing social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), in collaboration with consultants and CEO who also provide messaging.
    • Develop, share, repost, comment, and track against goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience designing and executing successful programs to engage parents and families in the education space.
  • 3+ years’ experience engaging and empowering adults from marginalized and underrepresented backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in communications, public relations, and social media management.
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening, clear speaking, powerful questioning, and persuasive writing tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage competing demands, and consistently follow through on commitments.
  • Knowledge of educational equity issues and understanding of the educational landscape in Nashville.
  • Proficiency in using technology tools for organizing, data tracking, and communication, in addition to Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Understanding and comfort of school choice as an acceptable policy practice for parents
  • Able to maintain a flexible work schedule
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Preferred:
    • Bilingual, Spanish or other

Compensation and Benefits

Annual salary for this position is $70,000 - $110,000 commensurate with experience. Our comprehensive benefits package is currently in the process of being updated. We will provide applicants with the full benefits package during the interview process.
