Description

WACO Theater Center is seeking a Program Director for its mentorship programs,

Richard’s Warriors and Tina’s Angels that are WACO Theater’s signature programs, created to foster artistic creation, self-expression, and confidence in middle school boys and girls. The purpose of our programs is to give young people from underserved communities and backgrounds access to arts education. In 2017, we were excited to celebrate the grand opening of our state-of-the-art theater space. This facility provides a home for our programs, and has been utilized for mentoring sessions, lessons and activities. Further, program participants are encouraged to explore the arts in a safe environment with leadership they trust. This exposure inspires students to dream of a world bigger than what is in their own backyards.

WACO has established a partnership with KIPP Academy of Opportunity (KAO), a high-performing free public charter middle school located in South Los Angeles. The school serves approximately 400 students in grades five through eight. KAO enables students to become self-motivated, competent, life-long learners. KIPP students recognize that an outstanding education is key to achieving personal success and leading a life of infinite opportunity. The mission is to ensure that students develop the academic skills, character, and intellectual habits necessary to succeed in competitive high schools, colleges, and the world beyond. The four guiding principles are: grit, honor, love, and leadership.
