Description

Reporting to the the Vice President of Planned Giving, the Planned Giving Officer is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding planned gift donors and prospects who reside in the west coast region. The Planned Giving Officer will work to identify legacy intentions and promote legacy giving while also stewarding donors who have already included UNICEF USA in their estate plans. The ideal candidate must demonstrate outstanding professionalism, strong self-motivation, strategic thinking, and be attentive to details. All other duties and responsibilities, as assigned by the VPPG.

 

Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):

  • Solicit and steward existing UNICEF USA donors in face-to-face meetings; requires travel primarily within the State of California with occasional trips to additional western states.
  • Work with Major Gift and Direct Response colleagues to identify potential opportunities for joint visits and blended gifts
  • Prepare gift proposals and provide additional information as needed to help secure planned gifts
  • Inform and educate donors about various gift offerings that will address their philanthropic and financial goals while providing support for UNICEF
  • Work with attorneys and financial advisors as needed
  • Input donor contact information into the UNICEF USA database
  • Secure donor testimonials for use in direct mail, UNICEF USA web pages and other marketing materials
  • Undertake additional special projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MA or JD) preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in philanthropy /fundraising with at least 2 years in planned
  • Knowledge of tax, financial and estate planning issues
  • Ability to work remotely with limited daily supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel and current driver’s license
