Position Summary

Literacy Inc. (LINC) seeks an outstanding Director of Evaluation and Learning to provide guidance, vision, and management for the effective monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting of LINC and all its collective efforts. In addition, the role will implement efficient and practical strategies to ensure LINC monitors its progress and measures outcomes and impact effectively while communicating results to internal and external stakeholders to cultivate a culture of learning and constant improvement.

The position is perfect for an experienced evaluation and learning professional who is looking for a mostly remote position, with bi-monthly in-person meetings and occasional work days. Candidates living in the New York metropolitan area are preferred. Candidates within a three-hour radius of New York City will also be considered.

The Director of Evaluation and Learning will lead the refinement of the monitoring and evaluation processes to surface insights that will drive decision-making at all levels. The Director of Evaluation and Learning will play a crucial role in helping Literacy Inc. scale by ensuring programs are codified, monitored, and continuously assessed. The Director of Evaluation and Learning will supervise two staff members and will lead the measurement and evaluation efforts (M&E) essential for the growth and development of Literacy Inc. The primary duties include:

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Impact (approximately 40% of the job)

  • Providing oversight of M&E strategy, data collection, collation, analysis, and reporting, ensuring that data is high quality and audit worthy.
  • Leading the analysis and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data and packaging the findings in various formats and for multiple audiences.
  • Collaborating with program and development colleagues, outside partners, and stakeholders to ensure timely M&E compliance on reporting for internal and external (donor) reporting, focusing on accuracy and integrity and high quality of data, data analysis, and information generated.
  • Recommending strategies and tactics that integrate M&E findings into program modifications, course corrections, and ongoing M&E efforts.
  • Help to build a culture of learning, where data-based decisions are embraced and data is welcomed, understood, and clearly synthesized and communicated to various stakeholders regardless of their experience with M&E.

Management of M&E Staff and External Partners (approximately 40% of the job)

  • Supervise the Associate Director, Evaluation, and Impact as well as the Program Outcomes Manager.
  • Managing the relationship with external, third-party evaluators.
  • Contributing to/developing M&E-focused communications, including data visualization and storytelling approaches.
  • Providing internal evaluation visual results and learning processes to inform annual reports, board reports, and other reports that present results to staff and outside stakeholders.

Oversight of the Salesforce database (approximately 20% of the job)

  • Working closely with the evaluation team and outside consultants to develop robust systems that ensure efficient data collection and meaningful outcomes.
  • Leading the evaluation team in the development of dashboards, forms, and reports for data entry, benchmarking, and analysis.
  • Ensuring database record integrity and accuracy across departments and communities.
  • Ensuring Salesforce architecture meets the needs of programmatic and strategic changes.
  • Performing other related tasks as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Masters preferred.
  • 10+ years of evaluation experience and expertise in both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills and verbal/written communication.
  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality, and age sensitivity and adaptability.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a diverse team.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced organization and adapt to complexity or ambiguity.
  • Proactive and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Curious, collaborative, information-seeking, continuous learner, and creative problem solver.
  • Ability to travel throughout all 5 boroughs of NYC.
  • Proven problem-solving ability, navigating ambiguity, and identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Humor and a Can-Do attitude are highly valued.
  • Spanish language or an additional language a plus.
  • Highly proficient in GSuite, Salesforce, Microsoft suite, and statistical software.
  • Demonstrated passion for LINC's mission.

Salary Range: $95,000-$110,000 + Benefits

LINC is a hybrid work environment. This role will require regular onsite presence and flexibility to work remotely.
