Mission:

The mission of StreetWise Partners is to leverage mentorship to increase employment opportunities in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Detroit. StreetWise Partners pairs volunteers with mentees who are unemployed or underemployed to provide them with the skills, resources, and networks they need to secure and maintain employment.

 

Organizational Description:

For 25 years, StreetWise Partners has driven economic and career success for adults from overlooked and under-resourced communities. StreetWise Partners’ one-year mentoring program provides customized, individualized mentorship for internship and job seekers while helping them establish an expansive professional network made up of hundreds of advocates who open doors and support long term career success. StreetWise Partners launched its first program in New York City in 1997, expanded to Washington D.C. in 2006 and to Michigan in 2019. Since inception, StreetWise Partners has served 8,000 mentees through the support of 15,000 mentors.

 

Position Description

StreetWise Partners seeks a dynamic and entrepreneurial Manager of Employment Services who is excited about growing a successful job placement program and helping to launch careers. The Manager is responsible for executing a comprehensive strategy to ensure that graduated job seekers have the skills required to successfully navigate the job acquisition process.  This role will also advance alumni engagement to build community and ensure long-term employment advancement and mobility.  This is the perfect role for individuals who are looking for a mission driven, high-paced role that bridges the gap between talent and opportunity.

 

This is a full-time position in New York and reports to the Employment Director. The role is currently hybrid, with 1-2 days a week in the office, although additional office days and occasional evenings may be required.

 

Responsibilities include:

Alumni Services

  • Support the placement of 100 StreetWise Partners graduates into jobs or internships annually; Ensure alumni are prepared for their job search by conducting mentoring sessions and workshops focused on interview preparation and resume design
  • Work with the Employment Director to evaluate job orders; coordinate with the employer partner to learn about skills required for the role and company fit.  Share job opportunities with targeted alumni that meet the basic qualifications for the position.  Act as a liaison between the employer partner and alumni applicants.  Continue to follow-up with and support the alumni throughout the interview and application process to ensure success  
  • Maintain a portfolio of updated resumes and summaries of experience to share with employer partners.
  • Offer in person and virtual 1:1 and group sessions to coach and guide alumni through challenges relating to the job search.
  • Coordinate onsite and virtual employment events that engage corporate partners and employers.  Strategically invite alumni to corporate events based on interest and skills.  Track event responses and monitor registrations.
  • Manage a diverse offering of alumni support services including, but not limited to, the creation and distribution of weekly alumni emails; creating and maintaining an alumni directory; and collecting alumni updates and success stories.
  • Through a variety of mechanisms, collect and track data related to outcomes and placement of mentees.
    Prepare reports for internal and external distribution summarizing placement outcomes and career progress of mentees.  Ensure data integrity in Salesforce.
  • Assist in providing task supervision for program interns; train them on the alumni services’ strategy and mentee data collection process. 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2-4 years of experience in career services or HR at an institution of higher education, professional recruitment or career placement in the non-profit sector.
  • Exemplary project management and organizational skills with detailed follow-through abilities.
  • Demonstrated presentation, negotiation, communication, sales, and influencing skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude (Microsoft Office Suites/Excel, Slides/PowerPoint, Salesforce etc.).
  • Eagerness to share lessons learned, creatively problem solve, explore best practices and continuously improve service delivery.
  • Excellent communication, public speaking and presentation skills.

  • Salary range $50,000 - $55,000 annually.
