Description

The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS), a Washington, DC based trade association represents the nation’s nearly one million workers in the plastics industry. PLASTICS seeks a Manager of Industry Engagement (Material Suppliers) create and maintain relationships with PLASTICS members while managing and/or assisting with the management of the day-to-day operations of the Material Suppliers Council and related groups including the Flexible Vinyl Products Division, the Fluoropolymers Division, and the High-Pressure Polyethylene Process Safety Workshop Steering Committee as well as the Future Leaders in Plastics (FLiP) Committee. The day-to-day operations include committee management, communications, budgeting, and program/content development and implementation related to conferences and meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the High-Pressure Polyethylene (HPPE) Process Safety Workshop Steering Committee including; providing management, planning, and administrative oversight, as well as overseeing the execution of the HPPE Process Safety Workshop event that takes place bi-annually, working collaboratively with the Events and Communications departments and other applicable PLASTICS staff to promote and produce the bi-annual event from start to finish, developing project timelines, agendas, and supporting documents for committee meetings, taking and distributing meeting minutes, recruiting and onboarding new participants to the Steering Committee, and working with the Steering Committee to implement new initiatives.
  • Manage task groups and programs under the Future Leaders in Plastics (FLiP) Committee, PLASTICS’ young professionals’ group including; developing and implementing project timelines and corresponding activities for programs such as the mentorship program, book club, and speaker series, administering meetings both internally with staff and externally with members to drive current and new activities of the programs, coordinating with the Communications and Marketing & Events team and other applicable PLASTICS staff to promote the programs and maintain related webpages, and tracking and promoting member participation.
  • Assist with management of Material Supplier Council, Fluoropolymers Division, and Flexible Vinyl Products Division activities and projects, such as the Annual Spring and Fall Meetings including; helping develop agendas, collecting and putting together materials needed for the meetings and events, taking and distributing meeting minutes, assisting with communications to Council and committees, and other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in business, public policy, or customer service industry; trade association or a related industry preferred.
  • Experience with a customer service management system (e.g., HubSpot) a plus.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn project and program management and the plastics industry.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Excel a plus.
  • Ability to travel (<20%)
