What You Will Do:

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for personnel administration at NatureBridge, a four-site, $15 million dollar, non-profit organization employing approximately 230 team members in multiple states. The Director of Human Resources guides NatureBridge’s strategic vision for human capital and ensures that its HR systems and processes are compliant, equitable, efficient, effective and aligned. The director will develop and oversee the full employee lifecycle to create a cohesive community of staff who embrace learning, collaboration, mutual accountability and impact in service of our mission. The Director of Human Resources is a strategic partner to NatureBridge’s leadership and Board and critical to promoting an engaged and healthy workplace culture. 

This is a remote position for a person living in the San Francisco Bay or Seattle Area.

Your primary job will be to:

  • Participate as a strategic partner, interacting with the leadership team and managers in the recommendation and implementation of HR best practices, legal requirements and industry standards. 
  • Partner with the NatureBridge Board of Directors Human Capital Committee to identify best practices, analyze and recommend organizational design and development; and establish human resources objectives in line with organizational goals.
  • Reinforce and support NatureBridge’s equity, inclusion and diversity philosophy. 
  • Direct human resources operations by creating systems and processes for effectively recruiting, hiring, onboarding staff; coach staff; plan, monitor, and review staff roles, responsibilities and structures; oversee performance management; find and disseminate HR resources; address HR issues and help resolve grievances. Current systems include: HR Intranet, Paycom HRIS system and Google Suite.
  • Research, develop, write and update policies, procedures, methods and guidelines; communicate and enforce organization values.
  • Comply with federal, state and local legal requirements. Study existing and new legislation; ensure adherence to requirements; advise management on needed actions.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that reinforce the organization’s values and align with financial strategy. Ensure said plans are reviewed and updated according to stated compensation philosophy.
  • Coordinate and lead training and professional development on a wide variety of topics including: talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations, retention and compliance.
  • Lead in-house investigations on employee complaints.
  • Manage vendor relationships for Benefits and HRIS systems and coordinate as needed.
  • Support and supervise Hiring Manager.

Compensation:

  • $100,000 annual salary

Who You Are:

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Minimum five years HR generalist experience including: work in developing standards for meeting compliance in multiple states, fostering teamwork, promoting process improvement and building relationships
  • Personal and professional commitment to equity and inclusion in the workplace
  • Experience in crisis management, employee investigations and communications
  • Strong leadership and management experience and ability; previous experience leading and developing teams and individuals across multi-functional areas
  • Excellent ability to work with individuals of all backgrounds and skills to achieve collaboration and coordination
  • Proven project management skills; excellent planning and execution ability, as well as multi-tasking skills
  • Financial and budget management skills and experience 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize positive, supportive relationships in the workplace
  • HRIS management experience, such as Paycom
  • Proven training and coaching/mentoring skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Exceptional professional integrity and commitment to NatureBridge’s mission
  • Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Bachelor’s degree required
