POSITION SUMMARY

Provide leadership to the day-to-day grant activities of the Financial Operations team including staff and team development.  Serve as a financial grant resource for the College by acting as a technical mentor, while overseeing internal and external grant audits and reporting requirements.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Serve as a Finance Partner for the College’s grant activity by providing support and consultation on financial grant related activities, e.g., budget, allowable activities, supplanting, etc.
    • Provide inspirational leadership to the grants team regarding the day-to-day operations and initiatives that support student success.  Create an environment of open, honest dialogue that fosters customer service and process efficiencies.
    • Assist with cultivating an organizational/team climate, which engages staff to accomplish the goals and objectives of the team action plan as it relates to the division and the College.
  • Manage the talent and culture needs of the department including the selection, retention, performance management, and development of employees.
  • Be the technical expert in grants by maintaining thorough and up-to-date knowledge of all grant and funder guidelines and related grant accounting processes and corresponding systems, including educating team members on any changes.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously streamline policies and procedures for effective and efficient financial control and administration of grants.
  • Act as the primary liaison for external audits such as the annual Single Audit and any other funding audits, including compiling documentation and being the primary point of contact.
  • Coordinate and oversee internal compliance audits, including implementing any process changes and related education.
  • Perform accounting, reporting, compliance, and analytical processes for assigned grants.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor’s Degree; Accounting or Finance preferred

Experience: Minimum of five years related work experience. Experience working with grants preferred.

 **An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.

Computer Skills

Microsoft Excel and electronic financial reporting system experience

 Certificates & Licenses

Certified Public Accountant and/or MBA preferred

 Other Requirements

Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and government fund accounting preferred.
