Description

Experienced Executive Director to oversee all operations and activities of this community based, not-for-profit organization. You will be the face of the organization, responsible for implementing a high-quality vision. A not-for-profit Executive Director has the ability to lead and motivate a volunteer base, while managing a small business office. They have excellent communication skills and take a holistic approach in addressing the program and business aspects of the organization. The goal is to manage and lead the organization towards the realization of its mission, which is to reduce litter, increase recycling rates, encourage beautification and educate within the Town of Islip.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies aiming to promote the organization’s mission and “voice”
  • Develop and maintain a volunteer base and assist them in carrying out community projects.
  • Forge and maintain relations of trust with partners and external authorities.
  • Work with a board of directors to set objectives and implement programs.
  • Ensure adherence of the organization’s activities to not-for-profit organization guidelines.
  • Manage day-to-day office operations, including: management of salary and invoice payment; oversight of checking and savings accounts; preparation of monthly and quarterly tax documents; providing information as requested by an outside accounting firm for annual taxes.
  • Act as the public speaker and public relations representative of the organization.
  • Devise remedial actions for issues that may arise.

Skills

  • Proven experience in a managerial position.
  • Ability to work with volunteers and community projects.
  • Ability to apply successful networking techniques.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Act as a representative at meetings with other community service organizations and local officials
  • Experience in developing strategies and plans.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn about basic not-for-profit requirements.
  • Ability to responsibly set short and long term work timetables to successfully carry out programs, interact with volunteers and oversee business office operations.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks.

Benefits offered:

Salary: $44,000
