South Park Senior Citizens (SPSC) Mission: SPSC promotes healthy aging by creating a space of belonging that provides culturally responsive support services including sustainable access to nutritious meals, social services, physical activities, continued learning, and social engagement.

 

SPSC Vision: King County seniors have access to services, and the cultural community needed to lead vibrant, healthy, and independent lives.

 

Position Title:  Engagement and Programs Manager

Reports To:  Executive Director

Location:  Required onsite Monday/Wednesday/Friday with remaining time virtual

Schedule:  Hourly, non-exempt, full-time, 40-hour week; flexible and discretionary work schedule outside of program hours Mon/Wed/Fri 2:30pm-8:30pm

Rate of Pay:  $29 hourly, $60,320 annual, plus annual bonus based on employee’s and organizational performance

Benefits:  $500 monthly Medical Incentive stipend, staff meal when working onsite during meal programming, - work laptop and cell phone provided

Paid Sick Leave:  1 hour of sick leave accrued per 40 hours worked 

Paid Vacation:  20 days annually, monthly accrual

Paid Holidays:  SPSC recognizes 13 holidays annually + paid time for Center closure the last week of each year

 

Position Summary:  In partnership with the Executive Director, the Engagement and Programs Manager will advance SPSC’s culturally inclusive meal and enrichment programming, lead a robust Volunteer Program, and manage a team of two staff.  The Engagement and Programs Manager will serve as a leader at SPSC, and will work collaboratively as a valued member of the Executive Director’s Leadership Team focusing on strengthening institutional capacity and fulfilling the objectives of the organization’s growth and evolution. 

 

The Engagement and Programs Manager will represent SPSC’s brand and interests,  internally and externally, while advancing the organization’s presence and reputation within the community, demonstrating strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, discretion, and good judgment.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Grow and evolve SPSC’s culturally-relevant Congregate Meal programming:  have full responsibility and oversight of the delivery of the Congregate Meal service and dining experience for our seniors.  Success will be achieved through proactive planning and organization,  strong servant leadership of staff and volunteers, and collaboration with fellow team members. 

 

  • Advance fitness and enrichment activities at SPSC while increasing the active engagement of seniors: have full responsibility and oversight of  the delivery of  fitness classes, evening activities, clubs, field trips, and cultural celebratory events while incorporating new enrichment options.

 

  • Manage staff and volunteers, as they pertain to the Engagement and Program Manager role, by establishing a culture of open and honest communication, clear expectations, constructive feedback, proper training, and the opportunity for learning and growth.  For direct report staff, regular one:one meetings will be maintained to ensure effective communication, understanding, and encouragement, while supporting opportunities for professional growth.

 

  • Grow engagement at SPSC: optimize the external presence of SPSC in order to increase the number of participants and volunteers at the Center; aspects of growth will come through building partnerships with fellow service providers, engagement with local faith organizations, participating in neighborhood gatherings and events, maximizing SPSC Marketing and Communications, and actively advocating for the SPSC Mission and the people we serve.

 

  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Director and Advancement Manager to establish a strong social media strategy and presence for SPSC.

 

  • Provide strong leadership through inter-team communication and cohesiveness, while sustaining a positive and strong org culture that attracts and retains staff, volunteers, and participants. Be an enthusiastic SPSC ambassador!

 

  • Pursue, and participate in, ongoing professional training for yourself and team to ensure growth and evolution within the workplace.
  • Actively work with staff, volunteers, and participants to undo institutional racism, build cultural competence, create a safe space of belonging, and celebrate the diversity within our Center and community.

 

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • An associate degree in an affiliated field and/or a minimum of two years relevant work experience.

 

  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, and a demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse participants, staff, and communities.

 

  • Must be highly motivated, goal-oriented, able to think strategically, able to set and stay on track with priorities, manage multiple and interdisciplinary projects, and maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.

 

  • A high level of computer and technology literacy, including Google, MS Office Suite, YouTube, and social media platforms.

 

  • Strong driving record with current Washington State driver license. 

 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

 

  • CPR/First Aid/AED training and Food Handlers Permit (will be provided by SPSC)

 

  • Manage sensitive matters effectively and with diplomacy, establishing a high degree of trust through personal integrity and the integrity of SPSC.

 

  • Legally eligible for employment in the United States.
  • Experience working with senior citizens and BIPOC communities preferred.
