POSITION PURPOSE

Reporting to the Senior Director, Communities Engagement in the Volunteer Engagement & Leadership Division, the Director, Schools will work with staff, members, and volunteers in all geographies to deepen engagement with current independent and international school members as well as to identify and engage potential new members, with a goal of growing CASE’s school membership globally.

The position will ensure the creation and delivery of sustainable support, programming, and services for school professionals using creativity, entrepreneurial flair, networking skill, and business development acumen.

This position will also work to ensure that existing CASE work continues to evolve to meet the needs of current and future independent and international school members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 The core functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  •  Develop a deep understanding of existing and potential school communities.
  • Forge relationships with CASE staff and volunteers in all offices to identify, develop, and deliver services for school professionals.
  • Develop and communicate a clear membership value proposition for schools.
  • Commission, create, and curate content that meets the needs of the school market.
  • Engage with Education Division colleagues globally to develop, deliver, and communicate an annual calendar of programming for schools.
  • Identify and steward potential partnerships with other school-related organizations, associations, networks, and communities.
  • Manage, in collaboration with the Sr. Director, Communities Engagement, the Independent Schools Leadership Group.
  • Manage the emerging International Schools Advisory Group and Independent Schools Advisory Group.
  • Identify and engage potential new members as well as work to steward and retain current members.
  • Support emerging communities of schools, especially those where offices may be small, multi-tasking, and where advancement is often a new concept.
  • Generate new income to achieve the outcomes desired.
  • Develop and manage budgets to support activities; ensure that CASE resources are utilized effectively and responsibly.

Fiscal Management/Budget Responsibilities/Judicious Use of Resources

  •  Exercises fiscal responsibility in the utilization of all CASE resources.

Liaison Responsibilities

  •  Works cooperatively and diplomatically with all division and regions.
  • Liaises with CASE colleagues in other parts of the world to ensure the best sharing of ideas, expertise, and knowledge.
  • Incorporates tasks and/or projects related to objectives as directed by the CASE Strategic Plan.

Image Responsibilities

  • In keeping with the CASE Values Statement, ensures that CASE is well represented by exercising a high degree of professionalism, accuracy, and ethics, in all activities, services, and products.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

JOB COMPLEXITY AND KNOWLEDGE

The Director, Schools receives broad direction from Senior Director, Communities Engagement and is otherwise expected to work with a high level of autonomy and independence, discretion, confidentiality, and diplomacy. The position interacts with CASE staff from across the world, and may come into contact with senior volunteers, members, and other high level external key stakeholders.

The Director, Schools will be responsible for his/her own time management and planning tasks to ensure the key responsibilities are met.

Problem Solving and Judgment

High level judgment and problem-solving skills are required, as the incumbent is frequently faced with situations which require immediate action in response to issues and requests. The breadth and depth of understanding of an issue and the key internal/external persons handling the issue, and the way in which the issue is handled, all affect the outcome of the situation.

Professional and Organizational Knowledge

The position requires that the incumbent quickly develop a deep understanding of CASE, its policies and procedures and an understanding of the culture and regional and divisional interdependencies.

The position requires a deep understanding and respect for CASE’s systems and workflow.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required, post graduate degree desirable, with 5 or more years of progressive and relevant work experience, preferably in an association, advancement, or higher education environment.

Skills and Abilities:

  • A demonstrated interest in advancing education in the not-for-profit sector

  • An understanding and interest in engaging with a broad range of cultures and countries
  • Experience and deep understanding of working at an independent or international school or an organization that works closely with them.
  • Demonstrated experience generating income, planning, and managing budgets.
  • Experience working with, managing, and stewarding members and volunteers, including advisory committees and affinity groups.
  • Experience developing and implementing member or customer engagement strategies; confidence at building relationships at a leadership level within CASE member schools and other influential stakeholders.
  • A demonstrable interest in and appreciation of the activities, purpose, and ethos of CASE.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in different geographies and from different cultural backgrounds.
  • A creative thinker who is excited by learning and finding innovative approaches to work.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • A strong and effective communicator with rapport who is approachable and a good listener.
  • Creativity with entrepreneurial flair.
  • Strong networking skills with interest in understanding and meeting the needs of the independent and international schools’ sector.
  • Self-awareness and the ability to give and take feedback.

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to perform at both the strategic and tactical level.

  • Experience in an international environment desired.
  • Education-related experience a plus.
  • Must have a strong customer service orientation.

CASE Vaccination Policy: Vaccination against COVID-19 is an important tool in helping to prevent infection and reduce hospital stays and mortality. CASE vaccination policy is as follows for each region:

US/CAN and Latin America offices: To access a CASE office, you must be fully vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19 or have an approved exception to this requirement as an employee with an approved medical or religious exemption (U.S.) or be subject to testing or other national/local restrictions in effect where the CASE office is located.

Europe offices: CASE strongly encourages staff to obtain the most current COVID-19 vaccine and booster as soon as it is available to them unless they are ineligible to receive the vaccine due to medical reasons.

Asia Pacific offices: To access a CASE office, you must follow government and property management guidelines.

Alternative Work Arrangement: As of January 1, 2022, CASE implemented an Alternative Work Arrangement policy where, after 4 weeks of employment, eligible staff are given the opportunity to work from home up to 2 days per week and in office at least 3 days per week.
