POSITION TITLE: Director of Revenue Accounting

REPORTS TO: VP, Finance & Administration

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Finance Department plus matrixed collaboration with various internal and external partners.

LOCATION: New York, NY (CSC)

Grade/Class: Grade H, Exempt, Non-Union

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

 

This position will provide leadership, and have direct responsibility over, the determination, recording and tracking of revenues and overall grant management.  Additional responsibilities will include management of financial processes and documentation related to the ADL Foundation.  This position will ensure that accurate accounting and financial reporting for all revenue streams and all ADL Foundation activities.  The Director, Grant and Endowment Accounting will ensure compliance with GAAP, other ADL specific reporting, and any other required compliance.

Responsibilities

Primary

  • Responsible for the revenue cycle of both the League and Foundation including grant review and revenue reconciliation.
  • Draft and implement policies and best practices for grant agreements, as well as for accounting and reporting for related revenues and expenses.
  • Provide guidance to grant owners throughout the organization regarding best practices for drafting, processing, and maximizing of grants.
  • Review grants and endowments and collaborate with Development Operations team to ensure correct accounting and reporting.
  • Ensure expenses are coded to grants appropriately and provide training to ensure grant owners are in compliance with grant requirements. Provide appropriate reporting and visibility as required.
  • Reconcile cash received and monitor accounts receivable for collectability.
  • Ensure appropriate accounting for the entirety of the ADL Foundation. This includes accounting for endowments, investments, grants, as well as intercompany transactions related to the League.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate internal and board reporting for the Foundation and preparing financial statements and forecasts as needed.
  • Liaise with outsourced accounting function and internal resources as needed.
  • Continuously improve processes, systems, and controls to drive improved efficiency and effectiveness of all functions related to the Foundation and the revenue cycle.
  • Interface with internal and external partners to implement systems and process changes.
  • Oversee the design, development and maintenance of internal controls and assures effectiveness and compliance assuring compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements.

Qualifications

Skills:  

  • Proven problem-solving and communication skills and the ability to work independently and promptly resolve issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust as the need requires.
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting and other regulatory best practices.
  • Works well in a matrixed environment.
  • Proven ability to interact with all levels of the organization with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Intacct, Salesforce and Adaptive a plus

 

Work Experience:  

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten plus years accounting and finance experience including demonstrable increases in responsibility, skills, team management and leadership ability.
  • Experience with endowment and grant accounting.

 

Education:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance
  • MBA a plus

 

Work Environment:

Compensation:

  • This position has a salary range of $98,000 to $143,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York, NY. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
