Position:  Director of Production

Location:  Portland Opera’s Hampton Opera Center, just south of OMSI in Portland Oregon

*In-office position

 

Do you love the theater, having fun at work, and gazing at the most beautiful scenery Oregon has to offer? Portland Opera provides all of that and more! ARE YOU PASSIONATE AND INTRIGUED BY? 

  • Personnel management?
    • Hire, manage, and direct all Production Department Personnel
    • Prepare and track performance evaluations
    • Ensure that the personnel policies are carried out and that the Production Department functions smoothly and efficiently in collaboration with other areas of the company
  • Production administration?
    • Review, recommend, negotiate contracts for incoming production rentals and co-productions
    • Determine the Design Development calendar, and communicate and enforce relevant deadlines
    • Engage designers to produce physical productions of the highest possible artistic merit and technical standards within the scope of the company’s budgets
  • Contracting, administration and financial oversight?
    • Negotiate, prepare, and execute contracts for Production Department employees and contractors, production rentals and co-production, and foreign company transactions
    • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and expense reports for all production activities
    • Approve disbursements, reviews, and authorizes all purchases and labor-related paperwork

 

 REQUIRED SKILLS: 

  • Complete understanding of theater techniques and processes
  • Intermediate or greater proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Working knowledge of standard accounting principles
  • Ability to lead and work with a team
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Able to manage multiple projects in a production environment
  • Working knowledge or greater of VectorWorks or similar CAD program

  • Compensation Structure: This position offers an exempt salary of $85,000 + per year, dependent on experience, with the below benefits:
