Reports to: Chief Development Officer

Team: Development

Status: Full-time, Exempt

Location: Office in Bentonville, AR

 

Join our Team in the heart of Northwest Arkansas! Lifewater is an established Christian non-profit and community development organization walking with the rural poor to provide access to safe water, and improved sanitation and hygiene, one village at a time. For 45 years, we have served more than 2.5 million people in 40+ countries with life-saving clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices. Lifewater currently serves in Cambodia, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Uganda.

 

Position Overview

The Director of Marketing will be responsible for creating and driving Lifewater International’s marketing and communication efforts. This role will oversee and guide Lifewater’s marketing team through evaluating and developing effective non-profit marketing strategies and efforts, communicating the marketing plans to those involved, building awareness, and positioning, growing, and defending Lifewater’s brands. The role will also work closely with our Donor Relations team to employ a stewardship strategy that will help maximize donations and increase donor acquisition and retention. Additionally, the role will manage and organize local and national donor events.

 

The Director of Marketing’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the development of Lifewater’s brand, brand awareness, and brand leadership positioning, while assuring global alignment.
  • Developing, evaluating, and continually improving Lifewater’s communication, marketing strategy, and marketing activities.
  • Directing all data-driven marketing, creative, and communications strategies including lead generation and inbound marketing efforts
  • Effectively communicating and casting vision for marketing to internal stakeholders
  • Research, identify, and refine our target audience, to help position Lifewater as leading nonprofit
  • Work closely with our international and fundraising teams to help execute effective, timely, personalized, meaningful, and detailed segmentation and communication strategies for donor stewardship purposes with the goal of increasing and retaining the Lifewater donor base.
  • Increasing and broadening financial support for the mission of Lifewater International
  • Develop, oversee, and optimize all marketing KPI’s, including the development of real-time marketing dashboards.
  • Assisting with budgeting and expenditures.
  • Manage and organize Lifewater’s local and national donor events.
  • Overseeing social media marketing strategy and content marketing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Work Experience and Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Adherence to Lifewater’s statement of faith
  • Passion for Lifewater’s mission of serving vulnerable communities and children
  • 10+ years of experience in executing marketing, communications, and development campaigns with demonstrated skills, knowledge, and successes (preferably in the nonprofit sector).
  • Experience in running a marketing team, with high competency in project and stakeholder management
  • Proven success in driving complex, multi-channel marketing projects from inception through execution, including budget and timeline management, relationship building, detailed process development, and quality control.
  • Ability to understand a high-level vision and develop a detailed plan to execute with the best results.
  • Ability to work closely with the Senior Leadership team and the Donor Relations team to meet department and organizational goals
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Experience using marketing CRM tools; Salesforce experience preferred
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally, as needed (5-10%)
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States; no sponsorship will be provided

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree from an accredited institution in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field
  • Experience working in a non-profit setting
  • Experience using project management software, such as Asana

Physical Qualifications

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time
