Description

About Us

The mission of the San Francisco Public Health Foundation (SFPHF) is to develop and mobilize resources in support of the goals of the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) and its community partners to protect and promote health. Our job is to streamline and simplify our community health partners’ paths to successfully serve San Francisco’s most vulnerable residents. SFPHF acts as a fiscal sponsor for SFDPH-affiliated and independent public health programs, allowing them to focus their time and limited funds on providing much-needed services.

As a fiscal sponsor, we extend our tax-exempt status to these groups, enabling them to fundraise from individuals, foundations, and corporations while offering a shared administrative platform that may include payroll, employee benefits, publicity, and insurance. Initiatives benefit from becoming part of SFPHF’s larger legal entity but continue to carry out their programmatic strategies independently. In addition to fiscal sponsorship, SFPHF also provides funding for SFDPH capacity building and staff development.
