Development Associate

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Charities, the Development Associate will be responsible for assisting the Charities Team with a variety of development activities to support the fundraising efforts for the Scottish Rite, NMJ’s five major charities. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, task-oriented and able to handle shifting priorities while maintaining focus and meeting goals.

 

Duties:

  • Assist with direct mail operations, including planning yearly mail schedule, writing fundraising appeal letters, coordinating with print vendors and tracking ROI
  • Manage ecommerce platform, maintaining accounts, corresponding with store host and assisting with merchandise updates
  • Support donor cultivation efforts, including donor correspondence and thank you calls
  • Develop content for charities marketing materials, including researching and writing articles
  • Work with the Charities Team to plan, develop and produce the organization's annual Impact Report.
  • Write and prepare donor solicitations and campaign materials, grant proposals and reports, and additional correspondence related to development activities.
  • Identify and qualify new prospects through prospect research and analysis, compiling profiles and creating giving reports and dashboards as needed
  • Assist with maintaining contact reports and notes, master prospect lists and donor files
  • Keep Charities team calendar, applying projects as needed into Asana
  • Assist with large-scale organization-wide events as needed (e.g. Giving Tuesday, Reunions and Annual Session)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or the Assistant Director of Charities

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Demonstrated track record of working on a successful fundraising team in a collaborative environment
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Prior experience using Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge and Research Point preferred, but not required
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with experience meeting deadlines
  • Excellent computer skills and high proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Comfortable with a highly collaborative, “all-hands-on-deck” environment while at the same time exhibiting independence, dependability and initiative
