Roles and Responsibilities:

Finance
● Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed.
● Oversee cash, investment, and asset management.
● Oversee financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships.
● Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses
to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans.
● Mentor and develop the finance department team, managing work allocation, training,
problem resolution, and building an effective team dynamic.
● Collaborate with the management team to make decisions that effectively consider
financial and programmatic goals.

Financial Planning and Policy
● Coordinate the development and monitoring of budgets, financial business plans and
forecasts for existing and new programs.
● Ensure thorough and accurate program planning, in alignment with the budget, staffing
capacity, and administrative/operational capacity.
● Engage the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors to develop short-, medium-, and
long-term financial plans and projections.
● Work with the CEO and Chief Strategy Officer to coordinate implementation of the
organizational strategic plan and assist staff in working toward their goals.
● Represent the organization to financial partners, including financial institutions, donors,
foundation executives, auditors, public officials, etc.
● Remain up to date on nonprofit audit best practices and state and federal law regarding
nonprofit operations.

Accounting and Administration
● Oversee the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting
systems and function; supervise finance staff.
● Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
● Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting for
federal and state funders, foundations, and Board of Directors; oversee the preparation and
communication of monthly and annual financial statements.
● Coordinate audits (especially A-133 audits) and proper filing of tax returns.
● Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.

Human Resources
• Help develop and integrate organizational values of the merged organization into clear and
cohesive hiring, training, evaluating, and professional development practices.
• Ensure continued path towards becoming a more diverse and culturally competent
organization.
• Provide for all staff a strong day-to-day leadership presence; bridge regional operations
and support an open-door policy among all staff.
• Assist the CEO and Human Resources Manager in setting staffing strategy including titles,
job descriptions, compensation, organizational structure and supervisory lines, conflict
management, negotiating employment terms, and other personnel issues.
• Maintain high quality human resource functions including training, development,
compensation and benefits, employee relations, performance evaluations, and recruiting.
• Model and integrate diversity and inclusion in the organizational culture.
• Ensure that policies and practices are non-discriminatory and culturally relevant.
• Manage all benefit contracts and payroll processes (may not be applicable).

Technology
• Analyze the current technology infrastructure and scope out the next level of
information technology and financial systems that supports the growth of programs and
the organization overall.
• Oversee systems and dispersed technology infrastructure. Ensure security, stability of
core systems, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Appropriately consider and engage outsourced solutions where cost effective.
• Oversees RFP processes and IT vendor relationships, including service, software,
licensing, support hardware, and lease agreements.
• Provide direction for implementation, daily operation, support, integrity, and security of
the technology and data that supports and enables operations.
• Partners with all functional areas of the organization.
