Description

Overview

Fairplay (fairplayforkids.org) is the leading watchdog of the children’s media and marketing industries and the only organization dedicated to ending child-targeted marketing. Our work routinely makes headlines around the world, and our advocacy has forced some of the world’s biggest corporations – including Google, Disney, Mattel, and Amazon – to change their marketing and data collection practices. Fairplay is the home of the Screen Time Action Network.

Fairplay’s Screen Time Action Network is  global coalition of children’s screen time activists and advocates working to reduce excessive technology use harming children, adolescents, and families. We offer curated resources regarding screen time challenges to professionals, educators, and families; we host 7 Work Groups where members collaborate on advocacy and resource creation; and we work with partners to support children’s health and wellbeing in the digital age.

Fairplay is a fiscally sponsored organization of TSNE (tsne.org).

How To Apply

To Apply

To be considered for this position, please submit a resume and responses to the following questions in lieu of a cover letter through TSNE's careers portal. Applications can be addressed to Naomi Roswell (she/hers) and will be accepted until the position is filled. Questions can be submitted to Naomi Roswell (naomi@fairplayforkids.org).

Instead of a traditional cover letter, please answer these four questions:

  1. At Fairplay, we know that children need time offline and free from corporate influence to truly thrive. What motivates you to join Fairplay, the leading organization to protect kids in this heavily commercialized and screen-obsessed time?
  2. This position will involve learning and maintaining many systems, balancing detail-oriented work and the big picture. Please share an example of a role (paid, volunteer, or other) when you’ve done this before, and the strategies you employed to learn and implement challenging procedures.
  3. Imagine this scenario: You’re in the middle of a major budget project and have dedicated most of the day to completing it. While you’re working, a news story about our campaign breaks and your supervisor asks if you can set up and send an email to our members with the announcement, which will require the rest of the day. Saying yes will put you in a crunch for the rest of the week. What will you do?
  4. Please share any other skills or experiences you have relevant to this position that you have not already covered.
