Scion Executive Search (www.scionexecutivesearch.com) has been retained to conduct a search for a new Vice President, Membership Operations for International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), a 60,000 member-strong global trade association. ICSC’s mission is to ensure the retail real estate industry is broadly recognized for the integral role it plays in the social, civic, and economic vibrancy of communities across the globe. This full time, onsite position is for immediate hire and is based in the organization’s headquarter offices in New York, New York.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the SVP of Membership and Strategy, this role is responsible for all customer service, operations and logistics with regards to ICSC’s membership. ICSC highly values exceptional customer service and values it as a key differentiator of its practices compared to other commercial retail and real estate organizations. Additionally, this role will work closely with the SVP of Membership and Strategy to develop and execute successful member recruitment and retention programs. This role will also oversee the development and execution of a membership loyalty program.

This role travels up to 20%.

Major duties of this role include:

Manage the membership services team: Ensure the team delivers a consistently exceptional customer service experience to ICSC members. Ensure membership inquiries and correspondence are handled in a timely, proactive and effective manner. Oversee the membership renewal process and ensure quality/accuracy of member data. Develop the customer service skills of the membership team.

Ongoing Reporting and Data: Analyze member data to understand behavior and trends. Develop and manage reports on membership metrics. Develop metrics and benchmarking to track the performance of membership initiatives.

Process Improvements: Analyze the member journey regularly and identify process improvements to create a more positive and efficient experience.

Innovation: Identify initiatives to increase membership. Partner with Marketing department to design outreach campaigns to increase retention and target new members. Continually identify and assess new member benefits, products, and services that add value to our members.

Budgeting: Develop budgets and monitor actuals vs. budget regularly. Map out 3-5 year financial projections for membership dues revenue.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 10 years’ experience working in a client-facing role for an organization with geographically distributed membership.
  • Proven experience at senior leadership level; comfort in dealing with C-suite.
  • Exceptional writer (candidate will be asked to submit a writing sample).
  • Highly customer-service and people-oriented.
  • Highly comfortable with public speaking, including presentations to small and large groups alike.
  • Polished, diplomatic and confident demeanor a must.
