Senior Director of Development
STATUS: Full Time
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
CUSTOMARY HOURS: Mon-Friday 8:0am to 5pm
HOURS/WEEK: 40 hours, more when needed

General Summary
The Director of Development is responsible for growing a donor portfolio from $300K to $1MM+ in 3-4 years from Divide. Responsible for planning and implementing a strategic fundraising plan in order to raise vital funds. They oversee all aspects of the process, including campaign strategy. Providing for the short- and long-term needs of the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Personally, manages a portfolio of 125+ major gift, mid-gift and planned giving donors; developing and implementing written Moves Management process for each. Stewards donors through visits, written communications, tours, and events to sustain major and planned gift support. $1,000-$25,000+ • Supports the CDO’s and CEO’s major gift work with top prospects and members of the Board of Trustees. • Plan and implement account management strategy to ensure assigned accounts are given the appropriate amount of attention each year. • Develop long-term relationships through personal interactions with donors on assigned area of the country and strive to connect donor interests with the MSV mission. • Network through current donors to locate new giving prospects who can make major gifts. • Arrange for major donors and those with a large sphere of influence to interact with the MSV CEO, senior leadership, field staff and domestic/international projects, when appropriate. • Work with donors to set up planned giving, donor-advised funds, stock gifts, wills, etc. • Represent MSV in various settings, including speaking engagements directly related to major gift development. • Attend and participate in job related training programs as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Collaborates with the Director of Marketing & Communications for marketing support of fund development activities, integrated campaigns, collateral materials, and other marketing support as necessary.
Job Description
• Assists CDO in instilling a collaborative work process across all fund development functions.
• Coordinates with CDO on scheduling and meeting preparation for Development Committee meetings.
Job Requirements
Experience/Education
• Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles.
• Excellent management and supervisory skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of tax planning principles and techniques that favor charitable giving.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent (eight years) work experience.
• In addition to education or educational equivalent, requires 5 years or more work experience in fundraising or sales.
• Demonstrated ability to manage major accounts.
• Experience with developing new prospects.
• The ability to meet with donors virtually and in person.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Enjoys networking and building strong relationships
