Overview

The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA)*, the private fundraising and alumni relations organization for UW-Madison, is recruiting for a SQL Developer / Database Administrator (DBA).  In this role, you will be responsible for database and data warehouse development, query development, management reporting and database maintenance and optimization. This position is a hybrid role and will require you to work in our Madison, WI office location at least two days weekly.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, maintain and enhance reports, queries and data exports.
  • Develop and test stored procedures, views and functions.
  • Perform quality checks on reports and exports to ensure exceptional quality.
  • Provide business users the data required for metrics and analysis.
  • Develop new SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages to meet business needs.
  • Design and develop SQL databases and write applications to interface with SQL databases.
  • Identify WFAA specific needs regarding database configuration and monitoring and work with third party DBAs from planning through implementation.
  • Determine and implement effective ways to improve performance including index and/or query changes, database and/or server configuration changes, and hardware purchases.
  • Review, audit and maintain permissions and security settings on WFAA databases.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Database Programmer.
  • 5+ years’ experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), TSQL, Stored Procedures, and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Experience producing reports, vendor exports and other data related tasks.
  • Experience working with non-technical users.

 

Other Qualifications:

  • Experience in a DBA role.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Profiler and server side tracing.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server dynamic management views.
  • Experience in relational data modeling principles and techniques.
  • Experience with XML, XSLT, and schema files.
  • Experience in creation of automated unit test cases.
  • Experience in automated builds.
  • Familiarity in a fundraising or not for profit environment.
  • Experience with CRM, ERP and/or Financial Reporting systems.
