About the Job

Prime Coalition is a high-impact, cutting-edge non-profit organization focused on mitigating climate change through catalytic capital investment.* Every Prime program is designed to catalyze, deepen, or accelerate solutions that we believe will massively reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Senior Manager (or Director) for Learning & Leadership is originating the position, as well as two functions at Prime: our cross-cutting approach to nonprofit service offerings; and a new initiative to share Prime’s lessons learned about catalytic capital intermediation. Non-profit service offerings could include forward-looking GHG impact assessment for companies and investors outside of Prime, as well as supporting the development of new catalytic capital intermediaries in climate. The initiative to share lessons learned could involve field-building activities across a group of impact-first investors, intermediaries, advisors, and other leaders in catalytic capital. This person will work closely with Prime’s senior leadership team, make recommendations to the Board of Directors, and be an integral part of advancing Prime’s programming based on their own recommendations. Those with proven experience leading teams and managing budgets through project development and implementation will be considered for Director. This position will have the opportunity for growth and promotion as the work develops and the organization expands.

Prime embraces the differences between people of varied races, ethnicities, genders, ages, religions, and sexual orientations. We also acknowledge the value that different life experiences bring to our organization as a workplace, and to our ability to understand and advance our mission. Prime is an equal opportunity employer, and we encourage all applicants who share these values to apply.

* Catalytic capital is defined here as “investment capital that is patient, risk-tolerant, concessionary, and flexible”. Read more about catalytic capital here.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

50% - Substantiate and design Prime’s cross-cutting nonprofit services function

  • Characterize total addressable market(s) for services across two functions in Prime’s existing programming: (1) Forward-looking GHG impact assessment services and (2) Impact-first intermediary design and launch services
  • Characterize the underserved market, i.e., the subset of the total addressable market(s) that will not be served by for-profit providers over the next 5-10 years

  • Contribute to team building around subsequent phases of work – substantiation, construction, fundraising, implementation, and evaluation

50% - Build nonprofit programming to share Prime’s lessons learned

  • Synthesize takeaways from Prime’s existing body of work – publications, documents library, and pilot course at MIT
  • Design and construct a set of activities dedicated to sharing Prime’s lessons learned across the seven phases of an impact-first catalytic capital intervention, with the goal of educating philanthropists, advisors to philanthropists, and future impact-first investors
  • Collaborate with Prime’s partnerships team to fundraise operating capital to implement this programming, including team building
  • Collaborate with Prime’s impact accountability team to incorporate educational resources developed through Project Frame, CRANE, or other Prime programming where appropriate
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to implement this programming with appropriate phases of rollout
