Join Our Mission

The Registered Professional Nurse position is responsible for delivering quality nursing care to all clients.  The Registered Nurse provides an initial health assessment of youth entering the facility including but not limited to health history, physical exams, and laboratory tests and provides treatment of emergency and/or serious acute health conditions.   

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments, including HIV risk assessments, intake assessments, general first aid and triage activities.
  • Routine screening for substance abuse, developmental health, mental health, and physical body checks for abuse.
  • Routine management and training regarding health education.
  • Provide training to staff about youth medical issues
  • Medication administration and management including reconciliation.
  • Maintaining medical supplies and equipment
  • Practicing proper infection control.
  • Follow up after medical appointments, community provider visits, urgent/emergency care or hospitalization.
  • Ensures compliance with state and agency law and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements 

  • Minimum Associates Degree in Nursing; required.
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse license and CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Minimum 1 – 3 years of experience.  Experience with at-risk youth preferred.
  • Flexible schedule and ability to provide weekend, holiday and on call coverage.
  • Case Management experience is a plus.
  • Must have current, valid driver’s license per Agency guidelines. Travel required.
  • Ability to work with a culturally and economically diverse population.
  • Skills:  ability to exercise sound judgment and follow detailed oral or written instructions; demonstrated oral and written communication skills; demonstrated knowledge of nursing techniques, procedures, practices, and theory, of medical terminology, infection control measures and safety principles.

Schedule & Requirements

  • Monday thru Friday 8:00a – 4:00p
  • On-Call requirements
