Description

The Regional Director, Major Gifts will be responsible for managing a 3-person team of Major Gift Officers (MGOs) throughout the Southeastern United States, as well as managing a portfolio of individual donors in a defined territory, as assigned. The Regional Director will support his/her team of MGOs through the strategic engagement of current and new donors to Hadassah at the $25,000+ levels. The Regional Director will also connect MGOs with necessary resources at Hadassah national office in New York, including but not limited to: donor research, proposal support, stewardship, and communications.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of three MGOs throughout the Southeastern United States.
  • Direct major gift fundraising activities, including monitoring progress to goal and compiling projections for monthly and annual planning meetings; help set financial and activity-based fundraising goals for territory and drive activity to achieve those goals.
  • Build and manage a fundraising portfolio of 75-100 high-potential major donors and major gift prospects at the $5,000+ level, with a focus on $50,000+ donors.
  • Develop and implement prospect and donor engagement strategies, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Partner with national staff to create solicitation proposals, correspondence, stewardship reports, donor profiles, and other donor-related materials.
  • Collaborate with Chief Development Officer and two other Regional Directors of Major Giving, along with volunteer leadership, to create an annual plan with financial and non-financial benchmarks including a pipeline of prospective donors with timing, engagement strategy, and ask amount for themselves and their teams.
  • Assist with annual budget and monitoring of monthly expenses.
  • Communicate regularly with regional and national volunteers and staff.
  • Prepare briefings and other written materials for U.S. and Israel organization leadership, in order to cultivate and solicit new prospects and donors.
  • Represent Hadassah at appropriate occasions or events and promote visits of Hadassah health professionals at lectures and donor meetings.
  • Track all activity in the organization’s database; maintain accurate records of all donor/prospect interactions and strategies for future engagement.
  • Attend regular professional development trainings and briefings on HWZOA.
  • Other tasks and duties as required.

Requirements

Knowledge, Education, Experience

  • BA plus a minimum of 10 years of professional fundraising experience, utilizing moves management, preferably in a complex, volunteer-driven organization with affiliates or chapters. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record in individual major gifts fundraising and capital campaigns and in direct solicitation of donors/prospects.
  • Experience creating effective proposals and materials for specific donors.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, as well as knowledge of fundraising databases and research tools
  • Proven experience leading and motivating a team of frontline fundraisers. Experience managing remote employees preferred.

  • Ability to work in a team, ability to communicate well with volunteer leadership and staff, and a sensitivity to donor relations management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal/presentation, and written communication skills, with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Goal-oriented, entrepreneurial, and enthusiastic, and a responsive flexible working style.
  • Familiarity with planned giving vehicles a plus.
  • The ability to travel, to include evening and weekend work is required, as is the ability to work independently from a home office, or organization’s chapter or regional office.
  • Ability to travel (10-20%), valid driver’s license.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
