PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Department: Consulting

Status: Exempt, Full Time

Location: Seattle, WA.

**Due to COVID-19 this role is currently working primarily remotely. Once FareStart’s office fully reopens, this role will have regular onsite responsibilities in downtown Seattle. **

FareStart is a nonprofit organization in Seattle, Washington that transforms lives, disrupts poverty, and nourishes communities through food, life skills, and job training. We help people overcome employment barriers by teaching them work and life skills they need to succeed in the food-based jobs — and in life.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, FareStart has provided millions of meals to organizations across the Seattle area that serve youth, adults, and families who are low income or experiencing food insecurity.

ABOUT THE POSITION

As the Program Development Manager, you are responsible for communicating the consulting value proposition, building the consulting pipeline, meeting revenue targets, creating deliverables, and consulting service delivery. Our consulting support prepares nonprofits, nonprofit networks, and their key stakeholders to launch, adapt, and scale job training programs and food service social enterprises. This position will collaborate with a variety of internal and external partners at all levels to achieve goals and objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Consulting Delivery:

  • Provide program life-cycle consulting services tailored to the participating organization and stage of development
  • Actively listen to client goals in order to provide relevant and effective consulting services and resources
  • Apply a DEI lens to consulting approaches and interventions.
  • Facilitate diverse cross-sector stakeholder groups effectively including front-line staff, students, managers, executive leadership, teams, Board members, and partners.
  • Deliver services by facilitating workshops, site visits, training, virtual meetings, and webinars.
  • Maintain consulting standards through organizational assessments.
  • Leverage relevant consulting services to develop, launch and scale programs and increase community impact.
  • Build the knowledge and capacity of staff at client organizations to launch and scale foodservice job training programs.
  • Aligns key stakeholders around a common program vision and maintains alignment through engagement and empowering clients.
  • Promote community-centered program design by engaging clients’ stakeholders including partner organizations, employer partners, government entities, etc.

Sales, Outreach and Business Development:

  • Responsible for identifying, targeting, qualifying, and cultivating relationships with clients and prospects for consulting. Provides relationship account management with assigned accounts.
  • Draft consulting proposals that meet the needs of clients
  • Responsible for prospecting and outreach in current and targeted new markets.
  • Network and present at industry conferences and events.
  • Develop new consulting opportunities, meet revenue goals, and forecast revenues in partnership with management.

Product and Resource Development:

  • Partner with resource development staff and FS staff to create, evaluate and update consulting services, tools, curriculum, and other materials. Cross-train internal staff on those offerings.
  • Participate in product ideation, creation, and piloting of new products.
  • Create and enhance products that fill a niche in the market.
  • Knowledge/experience with building new products for virtual and in-person consumption.
  • Savvy adapter and initiator of new technology especially for remote work/delivery of content.
  • Stay abreast of key trends to inform product development in the food service and workforce development sectors.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Two or more years of experience in consulting for nonprofit organizations or opportunity employers.
  • Experience in two of our core three areas of expertise required: food service enterprise development, people-centered workforce program design, and cross-sector multi-stakeholder community engagement.
  • Applied knowledge of trauma-informed best practices and asset-based approaches.
  • Proven relationship management and business development skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and stakeholders with great precision.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills to evaluate programs and businesses.
  • High level of tact and diplomacy in conveying areas of improvement to clients.
  • Understanding of root causes of poverty, hunger, and joblessness in the US.
  • Systems change or change management experience desired.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel locally and domestically. Current passport or ability to obtain one required. (Up to 50% travel post-COVID-19 restrictions and regulations).

Systems

  • Fluency in business-critical applications and remote collaboration tools: Word, Excel, CRM, Outlook, PowerPoint, Zoom, Teams, etc.
