Description

About the National Public Education Support Fund (NPESF):

NPESF was established in 2008 as part of the Leeds families of philanthropies to serve as a community of engaged education funders and advocates to support the Alliance for Excellent Education (now All4Ed). Today, NPESF is a national hub for convening and connecting influential leaders in education philanthropy with advocacy, research, policy, and practice. Networks hosted at and/or supported by NPESF include the Education Funder Strategy Group, Partnership for the Future of Learning, Data Funders Collaborative and Grantmakers for Thriving Youth.

The organization has a vision to unify philanthropy, educators, policymakers and communities to actively support equitable and just policies and systems promoting opportunities for all learners to develop and prosper. Dedicated to its mission, NPESF strengthens, convenes and catalyzes networks of philanthropy to advance the equitable and racially just education and systemic policies and practices that create the conditions every learner needs to achieve, thrive and succeed in a global diverse society.

NPESF supports collective action with funder groups through the following:

  • Supporting convenings of philanthropic learning communities to grow funder knowledge and capacity in education-related issues, gain perspectives from practitioners and students, and inform policymakers and the field;
  • Supporting collective philanthropic voice to advance scalable, equitable policy and practice prioritized by member networks;
  • Identifying and initiating opportunities for collective action - aligned members acting and/or co-investing and measuring outcomes - on high priority and network-defined initiatives; and,
  • Providing foundational support to help member networks thrive, including financial management, communications, HR, professional development, knowledge management and grants management.
