ABOUT PAFA

Founded in 1805, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) is America's first school and museum of fine arts.  Located in center city Philadelphia, PAFA is intimate in scale with a strong sense of community.  PAFA’s undergraduate degree offerings include a BFA in Studio Art and a coordinated BFA with the University of Pennsylvania. Graduate programs include an MFA and Low-Residency MFA degree, and a Post-Baccalaureate certificate. PAFA’s museum has an outstanding collection of American art, and the museum actively collects and exhibits contemporary art, including work in new media.  Additionally, PAFA is home to the Brodsky Center, a print and papermaking center focused on the creation of innovative editions by contemporary artists.

POSITION: Individual Giving Officer

The Individual Giving Officer is responsible for managing PAFA’s leadership annual giving program, which includes the Peale Circle, PAFA’s premier membership group and other areas of support. The position actively manages a portfolio of 50 donors and prospects with the capacity to make a gift of $1,500 to $25,000 or more, with an emphasis on substantive engagement as well as achieving meeting and solicitation goals. A strategic and creative thinker, the Individual Giving Officer designs, executes, and implements diverse strategies to acquire, upgrade, and retain donors, and is key to building the pipelines for Major, Principal, and Planned Gifts at PAFA. The position will also manage the Peale Circle, including solicitation, stewardship, and benefit fulfillment; and create a robust calendar of meaningful Peale Circle donor and prospect events. The Individual Giving Officer is an integral member of the Individual Giving team, working closely with the Manager of Membership and Annual Giving, Vice President of Major Gifts and Chief Development Officer to meet revenue goals, expand the prospect pool, and support the fundraising efforts of senior staff and trustees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision to grow and enhance leadership giving at PAFA that meets or exceeds annual revenue goals.
  • Actively maintain a portfolio of 50 donors and prospects with the capacity to make a gift of $1,500 to $25,000 or more to support general operations, scholarships, programming, and fundraising events.
  • Use research, data mining, and wealth screening to inform strategies, solicitations, and personal outreach to donors and prospects.
  • Achieve monthly goals for meaningful prospect contact including meetings, solicitations, and other contacts that deepen relationships with PAFA. Qualify new prospects as assigned.
  • Create tailored proposals for specific leadership giving opportunities, such as general operating, scholarship and other student support, programming, and other areas as assigned. Manage solicitation process, move gifts to closure, and thoughtfully steward donors. Assist with board annual giving solicitation process as well.
  • Manage all facets of the Peale Circle program, including writing solicitations and monthly renewals, benefit activation, and stewardship. Serve as primary point-person for the Peale Circle, keeping donors informed and enthusiastic about the organization through clear and consistent communication. Update and refresh web content regarding all Peale Circle activities and information, as well as details regarding leadership giving opportunities.
  • In partnership with colleagues across the organization, further prospect relationships and design a compelling suite of Peale Circle and other cultivation events that provide interesting engagement opportunities. Attend all Peale Circle and select Membership events.
  • Collaborate with Manager of Membership and Annual Fund to create upgrade strategies and pathways for increased support.
  • Utilize Raiser’s Edge NXT to track moves management, manage relationships, event attendance, prospect information and reporting.
  • Work closely with the Development Associate on all gift entry, acknowledgement, and record keeping processes related to leadership annual giving, including reconciliation and reporting processes with Development Operations.
  • Create and use monthly reports to track revenue and expenses against annual program goals and analyze data.
  • In partnership with Development colleagues, design and update individual giving collateral.
  • Promote a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.
