The selected candidate will work with the Transitional Housing Program staff to maintain apartments for our THPP-NMD youth in the community. The housing specialist will oversee all daily property management functions which include a walk through with youth at move-in day and conducting check-outs when youth exit the program. The specialist is also responsible for addressing landlord issues and completing maintenance requests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  1. Acquire and maintain affordable housing units throughout the county
  2. Coordinate lease signing; checking lease for accuracy before sending to accounting
  3. Work efficiently within accounting protocols to retain payments for initial transactions with property managers (i.e., deposits, application fees, etc.)
  4. Certify the apartment, order furniture, and coordinate its delivery, purchase all required items on move-in list
  5. Assist with housing compliance, including apartment checks, assessing damages, evictions and terminating leases
  6. Maintain charting system, including tracking leases; maintain files for all properties
  7. Communicate regularly with property managers, responding promptly to landlords regarding rental inquiries and other lease related matters
  8. Coordinate move-out services for the property following requirements by the accounting department such as collecting deposits and related tasks
  9. Input and track property management data, including repairs and complaints
  10. Enter all data, in a timely fashion to support program evaluation and outcomes tracking
  11. Attend THP program related meetings along with other program related meetings. Collaborate with colleagues across the organization and with respective department
  12. Coordinate youth training regarding tenant-related issues
  13. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

  • The candidate is required to have:
  1. Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong knowledge of housing resources in the community
  • Previous experience of managing housing preferred.
  • Personal accountability for the quality and impact of work.
  • Capacity to work independently in the field, willingness to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication skills, professional demeanor, and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word and Excel
  1. Experience in working with management properties
  2. Must possess valid California Driver’s License, proof of insurance and have a good driving record.
  3. Fingerprint and Child Abuse Index clearances from the Department of Justice.
  4. Must meet all requirements set by Community Care Licensing pertaining to the hiring of employees by a licensed community care facility.

EMPLOYEE STATUS: $23.00 - $25.00

SALARY RANGE: Will be commensurate with education and experience.
