Job Description

The Grants and Development Operations Assistant will primarily identify, research, and pursue funding opportunities by writing grants from foundations, corporations, and government sources. This position requires exceptional persuasive writing skills. This individual will update the grants calendar, manage the grants database, gather and compile program data, and assemble grant proposals. The Grants and Development Operations Assistant will work closely with key providers and project managers to ensure proposals meet application and reporting requirements and deadlines. Additionally, they will provide administrative support, assist in fundraising activities, including occasional events, and maintain accurate records and reports for the Chief Development Officer.
Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and submit regional and community grant proposals and reports
  • Identify, research, and evaluate funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources (new and existing)
  • Gather and compile program data to articulate TROSA's needs in grant proposals
  • Develop and maintain relationships with funding partners and coordinate a stewardship plan to build relationships with current and prospective funders
  • Work closely with the Director of Communications and Chief Development Officer to coordinate, write, and catalog TROSA success stories, annual Impact Reports, and other printed and electronic documents specific to development
  • Assist in preparing fundraising and impact reporting documents
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements and regulations, tracking program outcomes and impact
  • Update grants calendar and ensure meeting submission and reporting deadlines
  • Manage grants database and maintain accurate records in Virtuous CRM
  • Evaluate and improve proposal-writing processes and approaches
  • Work closely with finance and program teams to develop and manage grant budgets, including monitoring and tracking expenses related to grant-funded activities to ensure fiscal responsibility
  • Collaborate with staff to collect necessary data for reporting purposes
  • Prepare accurate grant progress reports to support decision-making by the Chief Development Officer
  • Maintain updated TROSA presentation materials
  • Participate in fundraising events and department activities as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or development
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Proficiency in grant writing and research
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
  • Experience with development databases, preferably Blackbaud or Virtuous
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and strategies
  • Passion for the mission and goals of TROSA
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team

  • Commitment to accountability, measuring outcomes, maintaining a results-oriented fundraising and communications culture
  • Meeting deadlines is a must
  • Must be available for some activities at night and on weekends
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of TROSA, including donor, volunteer, and program participant information
  • Flexibility to help with additional tasks when needed
