Job Summary  

The Development and Communications Associate will provide support to the Director of Development & Communications in CocoKids fundraising and communications programs, including planning and implementation of foundation, corporate, individual, and event-based plans. Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

A.      Grant Writing (40%)

·       Write foundation and corporate grant proposals for restricted and unrestricted funds

·       Monitor and prepare interim and final grant reports to meet deadlines and compile organizational documents as required by the funding source

·       Maintain a fundraising calendar to assure that Letters of Inquiry (LOI), foundation proposals, interim and final reports are submitted in a timely manner.

·       Prepare a regularly updated list of grants prospects and apply for grants to funders in the list that match the organization’s needs with their funding focus

 

B.     Individual Donor Cultivation and Stewardship (30%)

·       Write and produce annual appeal letters, Annual Report, and provider newsletters

·       Assist with all aspects of individual gift solicitations including efforts to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors and generating regular donation reports using Donor Perfect donor management software

·       Conduct web-based research on individual donor prospects and prepare a summary report on each prospect

·       Coordinate all development-related correspondence, mail appeals, other communications, and meetings with individual donors and prospects

·       Coordinate and support the planning and execution of donor cultivation events and activities

 

C.     Event Planning and Support (10%)

·       Support the efforts of the Board event planning committee to identify and solicit event sponsors

·       Write and produce content for all event correspondence including sponsorships solicitations, recognition, and acknowledgements

 

D.     Social Media and Marketing (20%)

·       Research and write content for posts to maintain weekly posting schedule

·       Manage social media including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram including engaging with partners and following fundraising trends across multiple channels.

·        Maintain and update organizational YouTube, and LinkedIn accounts and channels

·       Contribute to strategies to increase social media engagement

·       Write  agency newsletters and other  online communications using Mailchimp or similar email marketing software Marginal Duties Other related duties, as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities None Clause The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by people assigned to this work. Minimum Qualifications Education and/or Experience  A. Formal Education:

·    Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of study or equivalent experience

B. Practical Experiences:

·       Minimum 1 year, preferably 2 years, experience in development and fundraising, grant-writing, community relations or related field

·       Excellent writing skills – grant writing, funding proposals, letter of intent,etc.

·       Proficient with social media strategizing and online marketing

·       Highly proficient verbal communication and presentation abilities

·       Ability to work well in a team environment and complete assigned tasks with independent initiative

C. Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certification:

·       Proficiency with fundraising software (Raiser’s Edge, Blackbaud, Sales Force, Donor Perfect etc.) a plus

·       Proficiency with email marketing software like Mail Chimp or Constant Contact preferred

D. Other Skills:

·       Strong attention to detail and adherence to timelines

·       Passion for children’s causes and welfare
