JOB TITLE: Government Grants Manager                              FLSA STATUS:  Exempt, Full-Time

Position Summary:

A member of a five-person department, the government grants manager is responsible for researching, preparing, submitting, and managing government grant proposals/reports that supports House of Ruth goals and meets funder guidelines and criteria. This person is the primary government grant writer, and also maintains SAM and CAGE status, among other duties as assigned. We are a $12 million agency that is 50% funded by government grants, so this is a crucial position.

This position requires knowledge of government grant processes and reporting, with a background in successful government grant applications, strong writing, data analysis, program budgeting, project management skills, and an emphasis on outcome measurement. This person will research new funding and business development opportunities on a local, and federal level, as well as maintain and build relationships with funders. This position requires the drafting of proposals and reports, and collaboration with program staff, finance, and the CEO. While deadlines for local and federal grants vary annually, the Government Grants Manager will maintain a critical master calendar that tracks anticipated deadlines for proposals, government grant reports, and other funder requirements/correspondence. This position regularly updates the library of grant support documents (i.e. resumes, job descriptions, etc.), and maintains records of registrations and passwords required for grant submissions.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate analytical and persuasive writing skills experience as well as superior editing skills, including ability to convey complex information in a clear manner to a diverse audience. Must have the ability to work under pressure and respond to deadlines without sacrificing quality.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • College degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Five to seven years relevant experience, including three to five years government grant writing and reporting experience.
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
