Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and organized individual to join our team as the General Manager. The General Manager will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of Sarasota Contemporary Dance, leading a dedicated administrative team and providing financial management, performance logistics, and general support to ensure the smooth functioning and growth of the organization.

 

General Responsibilities:

Management and Operations:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative oversight, ensuring compliance with all programs and procedures.
  • Provide leadership and direction to a diverse administrative team, overseeing all aspects of Development, Marketing, Artistic, Legal, HR, and Financial operations.
  • Identify opportunities for procedural enhancements and implement new protocols to optimize efficiency.
  • Conduct weekly one-on-one staff meetings to foster effective communication and coordination within the team.
  • Develop and maintain administrative procedures, fostering efficiency and accountability within the organization.
  • Manage insurance policies and claims, ensuring comprehensive coverage and timely resolution of any issues or incidents.
  • Coordinate a team of 30+ volunteers, leveraging their support for events and administrative tasks.
  • Regularly attend quarterly board meetings, monthly administrative meetings, and weekly one-on-one sessions with the administrative team.
  • Coordinate with the landlord and vendors for studio and building maintenance, ensuring timely communication and effective resolution of issues.

Financial Management:

  • Manage expenses and revenue for the $550k+ operating budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and accountability.
  • Maintain meticulous financial records, including balancing cash boxes, managing deposits, and processing invoices.
  • Communicate closely with the bookkeeper to uphold accurate and up-to-date financial documentation.
  • Process incoming and outgoing invoicing and tax documents for over 40 vendors and contractors, ensuring timely payment and adherence to financial protocols.
  • Collaborate with the Development Lead on fundraising campaigns, driving community engagement and financial support.

Payroll and Human Resources:

  • Efficiently process employee paperwork and maintain accurate records using Paychex.
  • Collect and maintain up-to-date tax forms for employees and independent contractors.
  • Submit necessary worker’s compensation reports as required.
  • Conduct biweekly payroll processing for 10+ employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll regulations.

Marketing:

  • Track advertising spending and ensure accuracy in outgoing documents and materials.
  • Maintain and update the organization's website, assembling performance program information as necessary.
  • Collaborate with our graphic designer to develop programs, digital ads, and print materials

Education and Production Oversight:

  • Collaborate with the Education Coordinator and Studio Coordinator to oversee educational programming, budgets, and contracts.
  • Manage production budgets and create profit and loss statements, closely monitoring spending throughout the season.
  • Lead Box Office operations, administering ticketing logistics for over 30 events and 1,000 patrons annually.
  • Coordinate Front of House operations for 16-season performances, ensuring an exceptional experience for our audience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in arts administration, business management, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in arts administration or nonprofit management is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, financial management, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, budgeting, spreadsheets, and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple part-time team members
