Position Summary

The Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development (CNHED) seeks an energetic, experienced professional to join our entrepreneurial team.  The Administrative/Finance Officer will work under the supervision of the President/CEO and will be responsible for financial management, database management, and operations management, including facilities and support services management.

The Organization

CNHED is a dynamic, member-driven association whose mission is to foster just and equitable community development solutions to address the needs and aspirations of low- and moderate-income District residents. Formed in 2000 from the merger of two predecessor organizations, CNHED represents 140 organizational members, including nonprofit and for-profit affordable housing developers, housing counseling and service agencies, workforce and business development entities, lenders, and government agencies. Through the power of convening and collaborating with diverse stakeholders, CNHED advances practitioner-driven solutions to community development challenges.

Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Update and maintain a system of financial policies, internal controls, accounting standards and procedures
  • Prepare annual and monthly financial statements and specified statements for Board and Finance Committee meetings
  • Maintain day-to-day accounting, including bookkeeping, revenue receipts, and accounts payable
  • Provide financial documentation for grants and contracts
  • In collaboration with the President/CEO, prepare, allocate, and track annual organizational and project budgets
  • Manage semi-monthly payroll and timekeeping functions
  • Oversee annual third-party audit, liaising with the auditors as necessary
  • Manage banking relations and investments
  • Manage the collection of membership fees

Information Technology (IT)

  • Maintain server and other shared technology resources
  • Maintain and oversee membership and contact database
  • Address and troubleshoot technology-related issues and interface with IT support contractors
  • Research and implement technology solutions and upgrades, as appropriate
  • Procure new hardware and software, as needed

Facilities and Support Services

  • Answer public inquiries
  • Manage facilities and support services, including ordering supplies
  • Develops and updates policy, procedure, and forms documentation, in accordance with CNHED documentation development standards

 

Requirements

Skillset Sought

  • A strong commitment to social, economic, and racial justice
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and think strategically, both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to set, manage, and meet multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Demonstrated strong experience with nonprofit accounting and administrative management practices, procedures, and systems
  • Experience with grant/contract reporting and billing
  • Experience using Quickbooks Online
  • Experience with the management of employee benefits
  • Familiarity with District of Columbia’s philanthropic sector, government contracting, and/or broader community development field preferred

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of three years relevant work experience with demonstrated experience in nonprofit accounting
