Description

The Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center, Inc. (MCRC) located in Howard County is accepting resumes and letters of reference for its fulltime Executive Director’s position until February 29, 2024.  Start date between May 15 and May 31, 2024.

 Position: Executive Director, Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center, Inc. (MCRC, Inc.)
Type: Full-time position, Salary range $50,000.00 and $55,000.00/year depending on experience.

This is an on-site position with some weekends/evenings required. Some remote possible.

Must be willing to submit to a background check.

MCRC, Inc. is in Columbia, Maryland; resident of Howard County is preferred.

Job Description

MCRC, Inc. is a nonprofit organization offering mediation and conflict resolution services to Howard County, Maryland residents and businesses.  MCRC, Inc., relies on grant funding, donations, and fundraising.

Management and Administration

  • Provide general oversight and management of the center’s day-to-day operations and activities.
  • Assure program quality and organizational stability through development and implementation of current standards and controls with regular evaluation.
  • Ensure process for selection, development, motivation, and evaluation of staff and volunteers.
  • Supervise and work collaboratively with staff and volunteers.
  • Support the professional development of staff and volunteers.
  • Support development and sustainability of a strong, diverse Board of Directors.
  • Optimize grant opportunities and relationships.
  • If needed, establish, or amend employment and administrative policies and procedures for all programs and processes.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, businesses, and other partner organizations throughout the county and state to enhance the mediation center’s mission.
  • Report to and work closely with the board of directors to include policy decisions, fundraising and increase overall visibility of the mediation center.

 Fiscal Responsibility

  • Provide fiscal oversight, planning, and operation of the annual budget.
  • Oversee the fiscal activities including budgeting, reporting and audit with the accountant.
  • Work with the Board of Directors to ensure financing to support short and long-term goals.
  • If necessary, coordinate payroll, other compensation and taxes with the accountant, and Board Treasurer.

Community Relations

  • Facilitate the integration of the mediation center into the community by utilizing effective promotion, communication, and engagement.
  • Act as a champion within the public and private sector for conflict resolution.
  • Listen to participants, volunteers, donors, and community to improve services and generate involvement.

Legal Compliance

  • Assure the filing of all legal and regulatory documents and monitor compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Development

  • Assure an effective fundraising strategy by working with the Board to implement a plan that ensures the financial viability of the mediation center.
  • Explore new funding opportunities to expand and grow the mediation center.
  • Maintain strong relationships with grantors and key constituents to expand financial opportunities.

Educational and Professional Qualifications

  Preferred Master’s degree in a Conflict Resolution or Human Service field (Social Work, Psychology, etc.); Bachelor’s degree accepted with extensive non-profit experience in a leadership role

  • Five to ten years management experience in a non-profit organization
  • Trained in the Facilitative Model of Mediation, have experience with mediating if possible.
  • Ability to provide strategic vision and drive change.
  • Experience in leading and developing others in a collaborative structure.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness driving fundraising and outreach efforts
  • Proven track record of leading efficient and effective organizational operations
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to represent our organization to a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
