Executive Director – Lansing MI area
We are currently seeking a professional, innovative and enthusiastic Executive Director for the VFW National Home for Children, a non-profit serving our nation’s veterans and their children and families continuously since 1925.

Located just south of Lansing, MI in Eaton Rapids on 629 acres, our beautiful campus-community is comprised of single family homes, a licensed child care center, administrative offices, community center and gym, guest lodge, lake, recreational areas and playgrounds. We provide housing, case management, child care, educational support and other services to our nation's veterans and their children and families in our on-campus program. Hosting many visitors from across the country, we also hold frequent events throughout the year.  Additionally, we operate a national helpline service for veteran and military families.

The Executive Director is responsible for overall management and operations and for promoting a team-based staff culture centered on providing quality programs and services. This highly visible position works nationwide with donors and supporters while leading a team of directors and staff to achieve the organization’s mission and goals. The Executive Director works to enhance the organization’s national presence through marketing strategies and key partnerships with the VFW, its Auxiliary and other affiliated and supportive organizations.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Finance, Non-profit Administration, Social Work or other relevant degree. Master's degree in the field of public or business administration or non-profit management preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years related, successful experience in human services and non-profit administration and management. Demonstrated ability to exercise professional and timely judgment in complex situations. Demonstrated ability for strong communications and influencing skills along with public speaking and writing. Demonstrated ability to develop and/or oversee fundraising strategies. Demonstrated ability to build and sustain constituent relationships/partnerships. Proven experience in influencing others and building relationships. Strong preference for military knowledge and/or experience.
Management Experience: Minimum 5 years of related management and leadership experience. Experience working in an environment requiring flexibility and managing change.
Other: Proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Familiarity with federal state and local employment laws and ability to interpret/apply other laws and best policy/practices related to the agency’s programs and services.
Travel: Some travel is required.
