Seeking an energetic and qualified candidate to fill the position of Executive Director of the Living With Change Foundation (the “Foundation”) – a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in January, 2018 that is dedicated to providing education, resources, support, and advocacy to families, friends, teachers, and the community while fostering confidence and acceptance through change.

This is a highly visible position at a rapidly growing non-profit organization that has potential for nationwide reach. The Foundation serves a unique population that has been historically underserved with a varying geographical and economic make-up.

The right candidate will possess a strong skill set in the following areas: administration, leadership, management (including development and management of high-performance teams and budget management), fundraising for sustainability and finance, communications, planning, strategizing, marketing, problem-solving, organization, time-management, efficiency, and often, whatever else comes his/her/their way. The right candidate will also possess the following interpersonal skills: ability collaborate, connect, and leave a good impression. This person must be action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, innovative, and self-directed.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Administration/Management:
    • Serve as chief administrator;
    • Oversee and guide the day-to-day operations of the Foundation;
    • Establish program goals and objectives designed to carry out the long-range strategic plan of the Foundation, regularly review progress toward these goals
    • Work with staff and Board to recruit volunteers; and
    • Hire staff as needed, making sure the staff has the skills needed to perform the various jobs required, and provide ongoing staff development to enhance performance.
  • Fundraising/Finance:
    • Serve as chief fundraiser;
    • Identify, cultivate, and solicit donations by developing and maintaining long-term relationships with key donors and potential donors;
    • Develop and grow donor base;
    • Submit/apply for grants, including, by writing grant proposals;
    • Partner with donors, businesses, and agencies to meet revenue targets through individual and foundation gifts, third-party events, and special events, as appropriate;
    • Oversee financial and accounting operations, and fund management;
    • Manage day-to-day fiscal operations, including appropriate record keeping, approval of purchases within approved budget guidelines, and assure proper internal controls;
    • Oversee production of financial statements and documentation for annual audit, communicate regularly with accountant and auditors;
    • Oversee the Foundation’s bank and investment accounts, including all transfers and monthly reconciliations;
  • Public Relations/Communications:
    • Serve as the face of the Foundation in the community;
    • Ensure that all materials adhere to the Foundation’s desired message and image, including annual report, fundraising letters, event information, website, press releases and other marketing and advertising materials;
    • Manage an active program of public speaking to community groups, civic groups and others who may be interested in the Foundation’s mission;
    • Continue to develop relationships with community leaders to determine community needs and develop plans to meet those needs, as appropriate;
    • Attend community and Foundation events to demonstrate the Foundation’s role within the community and to help ensure that others will attend Foundation events.
  • Mission Expertise:
    • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field; and
    • Remain connected to the needs of the community and stay up-to-date on changes (legal, healthcare related and otherwise) in the Foundation’s areas of focus.

 

Requirements

Required (minimums):

  • Previous experience (minimum of [3-5] years) as an executive director of a start-up non-profit with annual revenue of at least $1MM;
  • Bachelor’s Degree;
  • Ability to communicate passion and excitement for the organization’s mission
  • Background in building relationships within a community;
  • Demonstration of fundraising success;
  • Excellent oral and written skills;
  • Demonstration of leadership through self-awareness, adaptability, effective communication, inspiration of others to excel, setting the vision, and guiding others through change; and
  • Intelligence, integrity, and a good sense of humor.

Preferred:

  • At least [ten] years’ experience in a management role;
  • An advanced degree, particularly, a Master’s of Business Administration; and
  • Experience with non-profits that have a national or large regional footprint.
