Description

Candid is seeking an experienced relationship builder to co-create, lead, and implement key partnerships projects that influence norms and best practices across the social sector.

POSITION: Director of Partnerships

REPORTING TO: Senior Director of Partnerships

LOCATION: Flexible (Remote or a hybrid schedule in one of Candid’s offices in New York, NY; Atlanta, GA; Cleveland, OH; Washington D.C.; or Williamsburg, VA)

POSITION SUMMARYAs a member of the Influence Division at Candid, the Director of Partnerships plays a critical role in building trust, increasing collaboration, and seeking to influence the social sector more broadly. Having a great product is not enough; we also need stakeholders to know and trust Candid as the obvious place to share the data they have and seek the data they need. Thus, the Director of Partnerships will lead campaigns and coalitions, aimed at shaping norms and practices related to the most pressing issues in our sector; transparency, equity, and impact, for example. Transformative partnerships will require artful collaboration with foundations, nonprofits, and the infrastructure organizations supporting them. The Director will lead existing – and build new – collaborations that accelerate accurate and timely data flows, driving greater efficiency, effectiveness, and equity across the social sector using technology, data, and analytics.

Candid is poised to transform and improve the way the social sector operates. We work hard and fast, and  the ideal candidate for this position will approach their work with vigor, flexibility, and vision. This role is crucial in supporting Candid  to become the best version of itself, prioritizing the social sector’s ability to reach its fullest potential.

RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with leadership to define an effective strategy for partnership campaigns and coalitions related to data contribution and accurate/timely information flows between Candid and its stakeholders.
  • Provide oversight for large initiatives, while effectively project managing detailed components – a blend of strategic and operational agility.
  • Establish, monitor, and work ambitiously to achieve project specific metrics and support the attainment of Influence-wide annual and long-range Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Collaborate closely with internal product management, data, marketing, and communications teams, ensuring the voices of our stakeholders are appropriately incorporated into the design and delivery of Candid’s data taxonomy, product portfolio, learning experiences, and research outputs.
  • Proactively identify and negotiate partner benefits and incentives that promote long term commitment to data contribution, thus leading to a normalization of data-sharing as an organizational practice.
  • Improve internal feedback loops for maximizing Candid’s knowledge of the needs and challenges faced by nonprofit organizations, philanthropy serving organizations, grantmakers, and other partners.
  • Collaborate with the Sr Director of Development to identify and cultivate new funding opportunities to support Candid’s campaign work.
  • Closely monitor and actively participate in conversations/events related to the sector’s most pressing challenges and trends, including but not limited to equity, impact, scalability, and transparency.
  • Effectively represent Candid at conferences and other key forums.
  • Identify new opportunities to expand Candid's reach and impact.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 7+ years experience in partnership development, with progressively greater responsibilities, including leadership roles.
  • Significant knowledge of nonprofit organizations and philanthropy, their needs and challenges.
  • Willingness to travel several times a year (conferences, partner meetings, team convenings).
  • Strong strategic and systems thinker who can motivate and inspire external and internal stakeholders.
  • Successful track record meeting or exceeding partnership targets.
  • Passion for and understanding of the social sector and the importance of equity.
  • Data driven decision maker.
  • Diligent listener and communicator; ability to adapt approach among diverse audiences.
  • Extremely flexible and prefers a dynamic, constantly changing work environment.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • College degree strongly preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Sensitive and respect for racial, gender, sexual orientation, and cultural differences.
  • Champions and represents Candid's core values: We're driven, direct, accessible, curious, and inclusive.
  • Values self-care in order to perform high value work at both the individual and team level.

See the world. Make it better.

Every year, millions of nonprofits spend trillions of dollars around the world. Candid finds out where that money comes from, where it goes, and why it matters. Through research, collaboration, and training, we connect people who want to change the world to the resources they need to do it. Our data tools on nonprofits, foundations, and grants are the most comprehensive in the world.

Candid's vision is an ambitious one. But we know that when we make investments in our talent, it translates to more access and better knowledge for those working for social good around the world.

On February 1, 2019, Foundation Center and GuideStar joined forces to become Candid, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
